All my games are gone

After the recent update, all my games have disappeared from my external hard drive. In system setting storage, it list the external hard drive and says 242.3 GB of 2.8tb free. But under my games and apps it shows no games on the external hard drive only
the games on the internal hard drive.

System Update Recommend Transferring all game saves and files to external hard drive and using the working internal hard drive as a back up drive that way the game saves and files are portable and you don't lose any data from the internal hard drive.

Having the exact same problem.

 

So I got some help from the support line and after doing some troubleshooting they said it's either my hard drive or my console. I'd be interested if you all were able to fix your issue and what it was that fixed it.

 

Hmm. Interesting. I have an apparent duff HDD too.

 

Are you all using official microsoft branded hard drives?

Or cheap 3rd party ones?

 

Genuine Microsoft drive which came with the machine. The machine isn't used very often, so I very much doubt that the drive has failed. Hard drives last for years!!

 

Mine is a cheap third party one...which I suspect is the problem. I have a friend who has a transfer cable ..going to see if I can transfer data back on to my memory stick. If that works I'll be returning the cheap HDD (just got it less than 2 week ago)
and get a genuine Microsoft drive.

 

My xbox not working after update either. 18 months old, all genuine parts.

 

My HDD is apparently "unformatted" too. This has happened before but it was so long ago that I don't remember how it fixed. What are we supposed to do? Format it and lose all of our data? Or just wait until someone takes notice to this

 

I was able to transfer the data off my undetected drive and back on to my memory unit using a transfer cable (Now I can't play any games that take more than 1.5 G of memory). Going to verify my HDD does not work in my friends xbox before I order a replacement.

 

Good plan MortAz70. If you can recover saved games and anything else to a USB stick, then do it now. I have used a 32GB stick as system memory, as my HDD is completely useless now.

 

just had both my xbox 360 e slim consoles - one in warranty and one out of warranty internal drives go unformatted with the latest update and brick in the space of a week, I have had it with microsoft thats now 7 consoles i've had that have died and needed
to be sent back for service, i'm now done, I will not be upgrading to an xbox 1 nor getting another 360 after the warranty runs out out on my last one. This is a joke.
