Intermittent no power on - power supply or console?

My console intermittently will not power on.

The issue first started with the power supply going to an orange light instead of a white light and needing to be power cycled to boot. This issue resolved itself for about a week before the next issue started, which is now after an unknown period of time
(more than an hour, less than 24) the power supply light goes out completely and needs to be power cycled to come back on.

This issue persists in every plug in my room, all direct wall plugs. I do not have a friends power supply I can borrow. Microsoft's phone support has not been helpful thus far, hoping for help via the forums.

xbox 360 wont turn on

Hey there, so when you say you tried a different power cord, was that with the power source as well (the little box with a light on it).

If you see a flashing orange, solid red, or no light: Your power supply may need to be replaced. Try the following solutions:

1.Try plugging your console’s power supply into a different power point. Do not use a surge protector.

2.If the power supply light is solid red or flashing orange, unplug the power supply and let it cool for 30 minutes. Then plug the power supply back into the power point.

Xbox 360 power brick problem

The light on the power supply activity doesn't indicate there is a problem with the power supply. (Only a red light or no light is an indication of a power supply issue)

What does the light(s) on the console show when trying to power it on?

still no joy I would suspect your PSU is malfunctioning. I already would suspect your PSU is the issue here just by what you described,but it is always good to exaust all means of troubleshooting you can before sending off for a replacement. That being said

Sounds similar to the issues I had (I posted about them in the Beta forum but was closed before I could post a follow up)

In my situation the Xbox would sometimes work, but often turn on fleetingly then turn itself off right away - the power supply light would change from orange to white, then back to orange again and the Xbox turn off immediately.

In my case, I requested a replacement of both the power supply and the console - they had to be sent separately and it took me so long to get a box and packaging for the console I had a new power supply before I sent the console off. For me, the new power
supply did not fix the issue. I hade to have the console replaced.

Now, with a new PSU and Console I'm having no problems turning on, but it was 100% the console for me - not the power supply.

If you've got any mates with a Xbox, can you borrow their power supply - see if it fixes your issues?
