    Intermittent Controllers After Update

Another problem after the summer update. After working for about a day, my controllers won't communicate with the console unless I hard power cycle it. Pulling the batteries doesn't work and two controllers have the same problem.

    It's the console.

Only started after the update. This update is a pile.

    :)

I hit the Xbox button on my remote and controllers and nothing happens sometimes. The problem is intermittent but very annoying. After hitting the button a dozen or so times an error code comes up (0x87b20c08) it comes back on /errorhelp as not found. What
    is wrong with my box?

    Intermittent lag on right stick.

Seems unlikely that I have two bad controllers doing the exact same intermittent thing. The original and then the new replacement.

Thank you for the suggestion though.

    Hey there FancyCalf51007,

Sorry to hear about the controller disconnecting issues. Please take a look at this guide and see if it helps out with the disconnecting issue. Xbox One Wireless Controller disconnects or can't connect

I had this issue before the update so I don't believe it is the update. They are wireless controllers. Other wireless devices can possibly be on the same frequency and channel not allowing them to connect.

Mister Mascot - The link is dead. But to Jimbo's post, I already tried this (I think) as this has been a problem in the past but it was only happening every 6 months or so. After the update I'm not getting past 3 days without the issue.

  7. Oh no, sorry about that. Looks like the this thread link somehow got jumbled into that link I sent. Give

    this one
a shot and let us know if it helps. Also, have you tried using the controllers wired to the console as opposed to wireless and did that have any effect? Are all controllers you try doing this on the console or is it just the two controllers you've
    tested.

Have you tried them on another console to see if the same issue persists as well? There may be an issue with the console and not the controllers, this would be another way to test that.

    Let us know!

    Intermittent Controllers After Update

Thanks. Yeah this is the doc I have seen before. The "fix" is to reboot the console which solves the problem temporarily. I haven't tried to USB connect while this is happening but will when it occurs again. At the moment I have the behavior across 2 standard
controllers (one is a Day 1 controller and one purchased months later) and across the Mad Catz guitar and drum controllers (Rock Band 4) which is every controller I have. Given it spans every controller I'm pretty sure it's the console. Also given that it
seems to be something that is happening after the summer update and happens after the xbox has been rebooted and up for a while but if fixed through a hard reboot my assumption is that there is a memory leak in the wireless driver that was introduced in the
    update.

I'll respond back with the results of the USB plug in. Thanks.

Haven't been on my console in a while but afternusingnit for a few days, the connection problems are back. This time I tried plugging in the controller and sure enough it worked. So this is clearly an issue with the radio in the console after the update.
    Any suggestions?

    Hey FancyCalf51007 -

Do you happen to have any other wireless items near your Xbox One console that may be causing interference with your controller? Also, do you have another Xbox One controller you could try on your console? And are you able to try your controller on a different
Xbox One console to see if the issue persists?

    Let us know!

This is happening across two MS xbox controllers and two Rockband 4 controllers. When this happens none of the controllers can connect. If I plug them in via USB they work. Putting the system to sleep doesn't make a difference either. If I hard reboot the
console the problem goes away but comes back after days. It has all of the trappings of a driver issue with the controller system that is causing a memory leak.

    Hey FancyCalf51007 -

Are you able to try the controllers on a separate Xbox One console at all? Also, and this may be redundant so if so, I apologize, are your

    controllers fully updated
    ?

If so, the next step I would recommend is factory restoring your console choosing the "keep my games and apps" option.

Do keep us posted please. Intermittent Controllers After Update :)

    Intermittent Controllers After Update

I haven't tried them with another console but considering that two Ms controllers manufacturered at different times (one is a Day One edition and the other was purchased months later) and two 3rd party controllers I'm thinking it's the console and not the
controllers. Also since a hard reboot fixes it, interference from another device isn't the issue either. I'd like to reiterate that this just started after the summer update. The controllers are on the latest firmware.
