Intermittent connection/ High latency and frequent Xbox live multiplayer booting

Hello all,

I have relatively high latency (72 which jumps up 150+ intermittently) and am being frequently dropped from in game Xbox live play as a result. Also, my upload and download speeds themselves are much lower than when running a speed test on multiple devices
( desktop or mobile).

I've tried numerous troubleshooting methods on my router, my Ethernet wireless adapter and the Xbox 360 itself.

No other devices using my wireless settings have any streaming or connection issues.

My latest speed test from my Android phone on the same network and Wi-Fi band (5ghz) was 3 ms ping, 150 Mbps download and 140 Mbps upload.

My Xbox 360 network test , after this test, was 154 latency, 24 upload and 52 download with no packet lost.

My wireless adapter, Asus EA-N66, is in Ethernet Adapter mode ( it offers Wifi AP, Ethernet adapter and Repeater modes). It is connected to my wireless network via the 5ghz channel ( strong signal verified). The only changes to the default Asus settings
was to disable "LAN DHCP override”, give it a 192 format IP address (it was in the 10. format).

I have ran a speed test on the Asus from my desktop with this configuration and it had at least double the performance shown by the Xbox 360; I assume the Xbox 360 upload and download speeds are hampered somewhat by it's older Ethernet controller but the
latency and dropout should be much better.

Something unusual noticed and may be relevant is that under my routers attached devices is that the IP address for the Asus adapter and Xbox 360 have different IP addresses but show with the same MAC address (the Asus MAC address).

All the in game issues I have are with Destiny but that's also the only game I play Live as my previous DSL connection was prohibitively slow to attempt online gaming.

I have not been able to pay online games for the past several years and was very excited for this new internet service and subsequently frustrated. Thank goodness that I've only purchased a month of Xbox live so far.

Modem brand & model number: No modem? Ethernet from wall ran directly to Wifi router. I wasn't present for this new service install.

Router brand & model number: Netgear R7000

How many consoles do you have connected to this router? 1

If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal adapter (Xbox 360 S/E)?: Neither, using an external W aftermarket Wireless Ethernet adapter, Asus EA-N66.

Things you have tried: Static routes, Port Forwarding, QOS enable and disabled, WMM enabled and disabled, turning off Andy attached devices, Open NAT, default DMZ, firmware upgrades for all devices.

Do you hav e a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?:

Any Error Codes you encounter: Disconnected from Xbox live, unable to connect to Destiny servers any Baboon is the error code from Destiny/Bungee

Poor Connection and Download Speeds Suddenly

"When you say, "poor connection", is this exclusively related to latency, or do you experience intermittent disconnections as well?"

Hey, archagorgon! Sorry to see any issues! I'm curious about the third-party adapter you are using. You say it's an ethernet adapter. Is there something wrong with the ethernet port on your Xbox 360? As far as troubleshooting goes, we would need to remove
that adapter to test out how your connection is while wired directly into your console. We are unable to offer any support for third-party adapters here on the Support forums, and you would need to work with the manufacturer of that product if we can determine
the issue is there.

Let me know if you're able to connect up wired directly to your console and run all the tests that you've done on your own with the adapter. We'll be able to determine our next steps after that.
