Intermittent but severe party chat issues with two Xbox Ones on same network

We have two Xbox Ones in the house. Prior to maybe 6 months or so ago we didn't particularly have any issues with this setup. It's difficult to pinpoint when the issue started because the problem is intermittent, and also sometimes other issues affect party
    chat.

We both like to use party chat, and be in the same party. There's only ever two of us online in our house at once, sometimes both on Xbox Ones, sometimes one or both on a PC using Windows 10 and the Xbox app.

The issue seems to manifest in a number of ways (if it is the same root cause) but the most common is that we will be able to hear each other, but everyone else shows as "connecting" on the party to us. Our friends are still all able to talk to each other,
but we show as "connecting" to them. Less commonly we also experience these issues:

    • We are individually able to hear different members of the party - eg. I will be able to only hear one particular friend, and not hear my partner who's in the same house, but the friend can still hear everyone.
    • One or both of us is silently "kicked" from the party, and if we go to the party chat screen we see an error saying party chat is not available right now. We are typically able to rejoin the party right away when this happens. Our friends remain unaffected.
Since we have two Xbox Ones we are obviously not able to forward ports. We have, however, set up port triggering for the relevant ports for party chat and the games that we play regularly.

Are there any useful steps I can take to debug this issue?

    :)

  2. Party chat not working, NAT is Open

We are having the same issue. We have 2 xbox ones in the same house. Open Nat with Dlink router and repeater. Can't play co-op games with each other and can't party chat with each other. Nothing wrong with my router because we play another game with party
chat on 2 different xbox 360s within the same house on the same network and everything works fine. These xbox ones are becoming really bad.

Worst console I have ever owned.....WOW!

Live wasn't hacked, it was an attack, and everything has been the same for me, intermittent party chat issues, friends activity doesn't load on the dashboard, but does when I go into friends.

It'll get better, at least from what is shown in the SDK leak.

Intermittent but severe party chat issues with two Xbox Ones on same network

If both of you use an Xbox one System at the same time it'll make the internet difficult to use because the Xbox one requires a good WiFi connection for both of you to play Simultaneously I recommend you two not play at the exact same time due to slow internet
connection. But if you do want to try troubleshooting your network/consoles try

Two Xboxes in same flat on same network have party chat issues

    Hello Robclarke41,

Thank you for your prompt response and my apologies for some delay in my end.

As provided that the issue happened after the recent updates., we can try resetting the device to factory defaults keeping your apps and games. To do so, follow the steps below:

    • Reset console to factory defaults by keeping apps and games:
      • Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
      • Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info > Reset console.
      • On the Reset your console? screen, you'll see three options: Select Reset and keep my games & apps. Use this option as your first choice when troubleshooting. It will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games and apps.
Additionally, try checking the ports for Xbox One and make sure the following ports are set to open:

    • Port 88 (UDP)
    • Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
    • Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
    • Port 80 (TCP)
    • Port 500 (UDP)
    • Port 3544 (UDP)
    • Port 4500 (UDP)
We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

Two Xboxes in same flat on same network have party chat issues

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for getting back to me, to answer your questions.

    1. No we are not using controllers we are using the official Microsoft wireless headset in all cases. As a test though I changed one of the wireless headsets for a wired headset on a wireless controller and same problem. I can see the chat happening on the overlay but not hear it.

    2. This happens with everything. Even when not in a game and just trying to use party chat.

    3. I have 5 Xboxes in the house some 20ft always and some 80ft away from each other. It doesn’t work whatever combination I try.

    4. All controllers are Xbox series x model wireless

    5. Troubleshooting:

I’ve tried numerous types of headset.

We have different ports selected for each xbox.

I have tried static IPs with manual port forwarding and dhcp with UPnP (NAT always shows as open on both Xboxes)

Connected the headsets to PCs and checked to prove the mics are all working fine

    Update headsets and controllers

If I’m talking from headset A on Xbox A to headset B on Xbox B I can hear everything from B to A but not vice versa. If I disconnect the headset from Xbox A I can hear the chat now on the tv speakers from Xbox B.

The strange thing is this was working fine and until we had a recent update and now nothing works.

It doesn’t appear to be a hardware issue as the mics are all fine and like I mentioned we have many Xbox mics and Xboxes to test with. It does appear to be more network related but all Xboxes have their own port as shown in the routers UPnP table and NAT types are all open. Somehow the wireless chat channels are fighting each other on the network,
