    Intermittent Blu-Ray Recognition

Despite having already requested (and received) an XBox One replacement due to a faulty optical disc and having received the April update, I am still getting the same problem - namely - the XBox One does not recognise many Blu-Rays first time.

Sometimes it takes up to 10 times before it recognises a disc. Sometimes it's straight away. All of the discs are clean and have been tested on other Blu-Ray devices round the house as working.

What's annoying is this appears to be a firmware issue and not the optical drive (since DVDs, CDs and games work first time).

Any ideas how to resolve this before I spend another half-an-hour on the phone to Microsoft?

    :)

  2. Things that NEED FIXING with XBOX ONE...ASAP

Can we get mass game clip delete, Also need much better Blu-Ray type recognition on Xbox One, there are quite a few Blu Ray movies that the Xbox One just will not play or recognize, the XB1 dose not play home movies save to Blu Ray media and this needs to
be addressed, our PS4 can do it well on all Blu-Ray formats. The XB1 does a superb job with most any type of DVD's.

    Blu Ray Player Hangs

Having an intermittent and annoying issue with the Blu Ray player app. Every time I watch a blu-ray with xbox one it hangs atleast once during the movie. It's usually just one time about half way through and hangs for 5-10 sec, sometimes audio is out of
sync afterwards. I expect the fix is to uninstall/reinstall the blu ray app, which I will do regardless. I'm mainly reporting this issue so it can be looked into fixing during a future update. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. It appeared to work initially but then after a number of goes it didn't recognise a Blu-Ray disc.

I'll give it a few days to see just how many times it doesn't recognise a Blu-Ray disc to see if the issue has been reduced.

Any more ideas would be more than appreciated!

There has been a further update to the Blue Ray app specifically today.

Also are all your Blue Rays legitimate copies for the correct region?

Games are region free but Blue Ray films are region locked.

All my Blu-Rays are completely legitimate and are for the correct region.

If there's been a new update for the Blu-Ray app should I uninstall/reinstall again or wait for my console to detect the update?

Update has installed and problem persists.

I have discovered that the Blu-Rays that are not recognised first time and now being recognised once the disc error comes up and they have been ejected and reinserted. Begging the question: does the optical drive and/or system and/or app need to 'warm up'?

I find it needs a wee warm up first.

I had similar issues on the PS3 and PS4 and my standard (first gen) Blu-ray player. It's just something to expect when you adopt tech early in it's lifespan.

I'm sure that the issues will get ironed out over the next few updates Intermittent Blu-Ray Recognition :)

  10. Just to put in here, I have tested a blu ray and everything worked well on my end and I believe I have the latest update too. Might be worth hitting the support forums if the problem persists. I hope its resolved asap for you bro if it isn't already since
    your last post.

Padre784 - that definitely fits with the facts. The Blu-Rays now always work on second attempt and after the error message appears so it's definitely the app and not the optical drive. Hopefully they'll fix it although it's not brilliant considering it's
    our main 'entertainment system'!

CloudStrife 900 - hopefully it will be sorted soon but I'm willing to persist with the XBox One since it's still a 'young' system. Hopefully all the teething problems will be sorted before it's a year old.
