After yesterdays turmoil on a lacking DX12 feature for Nvidia AMD’s Robert Hallock shares that Fury X is also missing a number of DX12 features.

The good man replied in a Reddit thread on the DX12 Async shader/compute feature that is missing from NVIDIA’s graphics cards, and then claimed that there is no such thing as “full support” for DX12 on the market today. Which obviously was already known
as AMD never claimed full DX12 support on all feature levels with their GCN architecture

“I think gamers are learning an important lesson: there’s no such thing as “full support” for DX12 on the market today.” said Robert and continued:

When somebody asked what are the aspects of DX12 that the FuryX is missing, Hallock replied and listed them.

So it is simple, currently no graphics card with full 100% DirectX 12 support, that means that some games are to favor AMD and others Nvidia.

I believe I read DX12 is backwards compatible... don't quote me.

in other words the Xbox One has all the same DX12 support as the Top PC GFX cards ...

So essentially the One is going to be stuck with a feature lacking version of DX12 with no way to add those functions?

Wish I'd held off upgrading to a 980Ti in my PC until a card with full DX12 support was released.

 

I bet this will peave a lot of self claimed "internet forum PC experts" off that's been touting what has Full Hard Ware dx12 support and what does not Lol ...

classic case of if you put false info and enough people quote it then it becomes Fact ...

this info show's people Don't always take for fact what the self claimed expert keyboard ninja spits out ...

as the Xbox one is has a custom design GPU so how do we know 100% xbox did not include the DX12 Raster Ordered Views and Conservative Raster hardware ?

after all its a custom design

I very much doubt it has but if it did Boiii would the PC hard core spit there dummies ... that would be a fun read ...

 

some simple tech mathematics should been used

Hardware Dx11.1 this info can be found in your graphics card drivers settings

dx11.1 = dx11.1 hardware support

dx11.2 = dx11.2 hardware support

dx12 = dx12 hardware support

You Don't Have To Be An Expert To Work That Out

BUT the PC forum Ninja has a mysterious Power to make you believe otherwise ...

i think in general this is good for the xbox, every console is the same so they all have the same support, not so good for pc users because no pc is identical to anyone else's pc so they end up with slightly different software support depending on the hardware.

 

This is no different from when any other DX has been released. Once it it accessible, GFX card manufacturers will implement it into their cards, just like they have been doing for decades.

if you want my opinion what this means for Xbox One, I can only give you my idea of what maybe it could mean

but that's worthless even to myself, because the fact is we are still waiting for the software update to come to the Xbox One console and game titles to fully exploit the potential of dx12

anyone can make a guess but I find it best to wait until the tech is on the console then and only then will we all really know

and what ever it is lofty it's deffo not bad news fella

PIX (Performance Investigator for Xbox) is a tool used by developers to find out what’s happening with their code running on a machine. For example, how much workload is the main render thread taking from a CPU core, or how much RAM is a bit of AI code consuming.
It’s improved multiple times since the early days of the SDK (from what we’ve read in the leak, the early PIX… heck, the early SDK was pretty bad) but it still has weaknesses.

Microsoft realized this, and have finally started implemented tools for developers to simulate different ESRAM strategies for PIX and figure out the best way of running this. Brad Wardell says in a blog post “This is where DirectX 12 comes in. First, they’re
redoing the APIs to deal with eSRAM based on developer feedback. Second, they have a wonderful tool called “Pix” that now has a feature (or will very soon) that lets developers try out different strategies in using eSRAM and see how it performs without having
to rebuild the project (i.e. they can simulate it in the tool). This too is huge.”

He also added to this via his Twitter account “Microsoft has cool new tool for optimizing esram use called Pix. Demo I saw resulted in ~15% boost.” While fifteen percent might not sound astounding, you should remember that this is currently – and doesn’t
take into account some of the other optimizations the Xbox One will receive.

 

Since Steve has started posting this I looked a bit online and it seems that some AMD cards have the shader hardware.

So if AMD worked with Microsoft on the One and knew that they were developing DX12, isn't it likely that they have the same hardware (or an earlier version of it) on the GPU for the One?
