Integrated headset microphone. PLEASE :(

Is the microphone for this headset in-line (on the actual headset cable)? I know for other headsets this means the microphone won't work for the Xbox One.

We understand that you are trying to communicate with your friends while playing an Xbox Cloud game. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner for you to get back to gaming.

There is a possibility that the compatibility could be one of the reasons why you cannot communicate with your friends using your headset. Or this could mean you need to update or install the driver for the microphone to work. We would like to isolate the issue. Please provide us answers to these questions below:

1. May we ask if you are using the headset's microphone or a separate microphone?
   
2. Is the headset driver updated? Please check with the manufacturer of the headset for steps on how to install/update the driver.
   
3. Please try to do voice recording by using the voice recorder app (this is a built-in app of the Windows computer). Can you hear your voice using the headset's microphone? If yes, proceed to the number 3, otherwise please see the following:
   
   • Please allow the apps to access microphone, you may do this by going into PC Settings > Privacy or Privacy and Security > Microphone > Enable the let apps to access microphone.
     
   • Try to check if the microphone volume is too low:
     
     • Make sure that the microphone or headset is connected correctly to your computer.
       
     • Make sure that the microphone is positioned correctly.
       
     • Increase the volume of your microphone. Here's how to do this in Windows 11:
       
       1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
          
       2. In Input, select a microphone to see its properties.
          
       3. In Input volume, make sure the blue bar adjusts as you speak into the microphone.
          
       4. If it doesn't, go to Test your microphone and Start test. This will help you troubleshoot any issues with your microphone.

4. Can you try to save a voice record by connecting your headset to another PC or device. See if you will have the same issues.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the microphone on your Astro A50 headset. However, we need to isolate the issue for us to conclude the issue to be for specific microphone.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:



1. Make sure the microphone is not muted. There is a button on the headset that allows you to mute and unmute the microphone.

2. Check the microphone volume. There is a dial on the headset that allows you to adjust the volume of the microphone.

3. Try resetting the headset. To do this, hold down the power button on the headset for 15 seconds, then release it.

4. Check the connections. Make sure the headset is properly connected to the Xbox Series X.

5. Try using a different USB port on the Xbox Series X.

6. Test your Astro A50 headset on a phone or PC, see if you can record a voice message or else use it on your apps.

6. Use different headphones to your console and test if issue happens.



If issue persists for these specific headsets, it could be compatibility issue and considering upgrade of Gen 4 could be beneficial for your setup. Or else, it may be necessary to contact Astro customer support for further assistance.

To get your Astro A20 headset microphone working on your Xbox, follow these steps:

Check that the microphone is connected correctly
Make sure that the microphone is connected correctly to the headset adapter. The microphone should be inserted firmly into the adapter connector.

Check that the microphone is enabled
On the Xbox, go to Settings > Devices & accessories > Headsets & speakers. Make sure that the microphone is enabled.

Check that the microphone input level is correct
On the Xbox, go to Settings > Devices & accessories > Headsets & speakers. Adjust the microphone input level until you can hear your voice clearly without having to shout or scream.

If you have followed these steps and the microphone still does not work, you can try the following tips:

Restart the Xbox
Disconnect and reconnect the headset
Update the headset software
If you are still having problems, you can contact Astro support for help.

Here are some additional tips for improving the sound quality of your Astro A20 microphone:

Do you have a headset where this worked before? Or did you change headsets and since then the Microphone is muted?

There are two types of 3.5mm headphone jacks called OMTP and CTIA. On both standards, the microphone connector is switched with the ground connector. So if you have an OMTP headset, the controller is listening for a microphone on the ground connector, while
the microphone sends signals to the controller ground.
