insufficient ventilation on xbox one x

my Xbox one x turn on, then after about 5 minutes or when I go into a game, the fan gets loud then just shuts off. then I cant turn it back on until the next day. its always the same thing, I tried resetting the console but it still does not work. note
it is in a well-ventilated area and the sides are not being blocked. every time it does turn in i get a message saying that my Xbox automatically shuts down when there is insufficient ventilation. this started happening after I went to my friends house with
the Xbox. it was working just fine before then. please help.
