"Insufficient Space" to Save Fallout 4

I haven't played my FO4 game on Xbox One in a bit. Decided to load it up. Turned my Xbox on and did the Xbox update since it's been months since I've played.

Loaded the game. Added some Addon & Mod content for fun which created a new Save. It changed my Save data to "(M) Commonwealth instead of without the M. I assume that marked this Load as Modded which was fine until I went to save the game. I get an "Insufficient Space to save your progress."

So I went in and deleted the Mods. But it's the same problem. The saved storage says 2GB being used. I deleted the Reserved Space content. Same problem.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game plus all my DLCs. Same problem.

I shut down the entire Xbox for 10 minutes and started it up again. Same problem

I tried playing offline to see if I can access my old Saves - but it requires me to be Signed in to access the info - so I'm guessing it's Cloud Saves that's the issue. But I can't GET to the Saves to do anything about it. They're all bundled or something under the "Reserved Space" blanket. I know I used to be able to see an entire list of Saves. I can't see those anymore or access them. I've tried several ways to get at them but I don't see a way to get at the previous saves to allow NEW ones.

Why is there a 2GB cap on saves, anyway? Feels like it should be double that, at least - with the number of years we all put into the game and the settlements we make and the content in general. Feels too small to begin with. Save cap feels like it should be expanded -- my 2 cents. But anyway.....

I have 27 days = 500+ hours on this game total going back over years of play time. I don't want to lose getting to continue playing my game but I have NO idea how to try to fix this situation so that I don't lose that most recent data.

I even went in and bought the Fallout 4 Game Edition of the Year off the Xbox store to try and maybe fix the issue -- but that did nothing, too. It's all tied up to this cloud data that I can't seem to get past -- since my console has PLENTY of space.

I cannot access any old files on the game to delete old saves. I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened to- how did everyone fix this? My problem seems to go beyond the easy fixes? I think? Please help. This is extremely annoying,.

    :)

I figured it out - for anyone who is also having trouble with this. *This* issue had nothing to do with Mods themselves, in case anyone is questioning whether the mods I grabbed messed up a save. NOTE: Modding does seem to create a whole "double" / clone of your last save on file and then creates that (M) <name> save.

In doing so...this actually creates TWO Character Profiles even if you only ever made 1 profile character to play on.

    Save 1 = "<your name>"

    Save Modded = "<your name> Modded"

So - to get into your old Saves and delete some to make room....

If you're able to log into the game and just can't SAVE new content- then Log in as normal.

When logged in - go to your menu where it says "Quicksave, Save, Load"...etc

Scroll down to LOAD. You should see DELETE, SELECT CHARACTER, and CANCEL across the bottom as choices.

For Xbox - choose Y to Select Character.

Then it shows you the example I gave you above with how your name shows up and so does your Modded one. Your Modded location I assume at this point may only show like 2 recent saves. A Quick Save and a Regular or whatever.

But the important thing here is -- you can CHOOSE your original game without the mods you added. It's IMPORTANT (I think) to disable the mods you used though FIRST before loading the file so the same thing doesn't happen again. So you may want to back out to the complete Main Menu and temporarily Disable those mods.

Once you do - you can Load your old game BEFORE the mods you added and you get to basically do the same thing. Go to Load and then you can scroll alllllll the wayyyyy down (maybe not that far down if you don't care about most recent saves) your Saved games before the Mods were installed and DELETE anything you have to in order for new games to be saved.

Once you do this and delete any old game saves - you'll have room to either go back and change the Y - Character to the Modded version (re-enable your Mods) or if you decided not to play Modded, you don't have to anymore. It copied the game in two of those locations so that you can basically choose which you want to do. But each time remember to Disable or Enable the Mods you wanted to use. This doesn't pertain to your DLC's or Addons/Creation Addons. They seem to be there in either game you choose to load if you bought them and if have DLCs installed and your Addons installed. I did try both versions of the game once I had Deleted some Saves and both seemed to work fine.

If you did what I did and uninstalled and re-installed the game...remember to go back into Creation Club and re-Download the Creation Addons. I noticed mine were missing and had to figure out why. My Slocum Joe's decorations & Nuka Cola decorations are completely missing and now I have some nekkid Settlers walking around with no clothes on and other Settlers "upset" at me because now there are 20 of them and 0 - 3 old ratty beds to sleep in because the pretty new ones aren't there anymore because ...well...the game doesn't show I picked up that content. So I have to do them again.

A bummer. But...hey, I didn't lose my entire game and I have all my hours/days and completed Settlements still there. I'm not complaining because at least I didn't lose my game :) Ultimately...now I can save my game and maybe by looking this over - you can save yourself from making the hours+ long mistake of trying everything that I did to get it fixed.

I'm not saying the other things that are suggested (that I tried) DON'T work. All I can say is that *I* fixed my own issue and if you're having the same problem then my information might help you to get past it if you're having trouble figuring it out. :) Good luck and Happy Fallout'ing :) :)

Edited: DLCs are fine. It was just the decorations missing from the Creation Club that I had to re-download in order for them to show up.

    Hey there Dazora.

Sorry to hear about the save trouble. It sounds like the issue you're running into is lack of save space within the cloud. Have you tried clearing up some space from games other than Fallout 4?? Also, while you may only have 2 main saves for Fallout 4, it's
possible your quicksaves are taking up extra space. Generally your storage capacity for games increases the more games you own.

Starfield doesn't have enough space to save.

After the first time I had this issue I went onto fallout 4, Fallout 3 and Skyrim and delete all but 2 saves on each game. If the save space is limited to all Bethesda games (let's say 1GB) that sucks because I'm only on NG+4 and plan on getting to NG+10. I think I'm going to need a lot more space. Cloud saves suck if this is how they work.

    Why can't I re-install a game I've payed for and played

It said I had insufficient storage space so I deleted something on the console and refreshed the page, it still says insufficient space.

When trying to play Xcloud says “we can’t save any more data for this game or app” how do I fix this?

Yes I’ve cleared over 100 gb on my Xbox but xcloud still won’t work for fallout 4 and it’s only fallout 4 that has a problem. I tried using cloud gaming on my Xbox instead but it still didn’t work. My game starts syncing and then says “we can’t save any more data for this game or app” and says my Xbox is out of space for saved data
