£40.00 [$60.00] and no Instruction Manual!

BF3 manual comes on the disc. Most can be found online. I do however miss manuals that were worth a read. Most games that do still come with them aren't even worth the paper their printed on.

Yes. At times I have do research online to find what the button layouts do. Then copy the info to 3by 5 so I can remember the layout.

 

Silly archaic physical media of the past. The Content is what is important for me, not the transport of the media.

As for instruction booklets, meh. Some were cool but most were not even worth opening and this was during the golden era of instruction booklets, not the flat-sheet of paper with warnings as of near the end.

 

I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 and I miss instruction manuals, the art work, character bio, story ... etc...etc ... I wonder if one day we'll see collectors edition games come with an instruction manual, like certain Cd's get a vinyl release now and
then.

 

Yes, and not just for default controls layout, but for characture profec, and other info.

 

It's probably been 10+ years since I even looked at one. They're completely unnecessary these days when everything can be included on the disc.

 

Miss them for about five minutes...about the time it took to open the game and glance it over.

The good thing about that archaic media is the fact it can still be used many years later; same can't be said about Project Spark, X Box Fitness, etc.. Probably only a matter of time before our save files are held hostage behind a paywall in the almighty
Cloud. Lol.

I miss the fact that I can look at the instructions manual to see how to do certain things in the game.

I don't really miss them for they content but for me were the gap filler from purchasing the disc to getting it home. As a child is would always open the box as soon as I got it no matter where I was my parents saying "don't open it you can't play it yet."
But I would always answer I'm just reading the manual.

 

Not really. Unless it's in colour. But understand Microsoft is trying to be environmentally friendly by not using paper. Instruction manuals for Xbox games can be downloaded digitally or viewed online, right? If you buy disc version games new, sometimes
they come with "paper" inside, usually DLC leaflets or free Xbox Live Gold trials, etc. After all I did get Xbox to PLAY not READ. I do far too much READING everyday ^u^

 

I may though end up getting Forza Horizon 3 digitally, so I can play it both on Xbox 1 and on my supped up high end gaming desktop PC with Windows 10. I also have Minecraft digitally. There are some games I want digitally as I don't want to worry about Xbox
1's dodgy Philips disc drive or the disc being unreadable even tho Blu-ray discs tend to be a bit more durable than Xbox 360's DVD discs. But having something "physical" rather than artificial aka digital/tech is kind of like a trophy. You can wave the game
case on the street and say "hey, I got this game I love it so much I'm gona let everyone know" lol.

 

Miss a good instruction manual for games with depth.

The manual for "Morrowind: Game Of The Year Edition" was such an essential piece of kit because the game was THAT deep.

Games aren't as deep nowadays though some do have their moments and they just figure we'll all go to the interweb to figure it all out.

 

I miss the smell of a new manual but i'm weird
