    "Instant On" power setting suggestion


    I don't know if I'm the only person who could do with this, but a setting on instant on to limit background downloads to a specific time would make my life a good deal easier.

    We are in the Scottish highlands and have a download speed of 3.5 mbs which is good enough to stream tv, however if the xbox is on instant on power mode it can sometimes do updates when we want to stream.

    I could limit the bandwidth via my ethernet switch but that would impede my online gaming. What I really need is the ability to limit background downloads to between midnight and 8am.

    I know in the age of fibre broadband this is probably moot, but sure I'm not alone!?!?!

    Why cant I play my game when there's an update, not putting the user first, sigh!

    Was going to say the same thing. I've had my console set to instant on since day one and rarely notice any updates.

    Hi,

    What do you have the power settings set to?

    You can check it by following the instructions HERE.

    I have it on instant turn on, I don't believe voice command is active
    If you have Instant on, and there is a an update, it will turn on to install it.

    I would suggest setting it Energy-Saving mode and see if that stops it.

    Hello

    Can you check if your console is set to Instant on or Energy saving ? If it's on Instant-on then I suggest changing it to the other as the system memory can clog up due too applications not automatically closing in that mode.
