Instant on mode. Downloads either stop or very slow when console is off

Had this problem for a while now. I always have my console in instant on mode, and when downloading anything I get great speeds. But if I start a download and turn off my console, the downloads either stop or download really slowly. As slow as maybe 300megs
over the period of an hour or so. Soon as I come out of sleep mode the downloads jump back to high speed.

Console is wired to router and NAT is open. I have an external HDD that I install to and it is set to not shut down when console is off. No idea what is going on. Any ideas? Thanks

Download game slowly or stop in instant on mode

I choose instant on mode, shut down the console(still in instant on mode), the downloading will stop or sometimes the speed is very slow.

Will Game Keep Downloading When Xbox One is Off.

I also wanted to add that when the console is off in the Instant On mode the game or DLC will download at a slower rate. When downloading games I will leave the console on overnight to ensure that it is ready the next day.

Idle download will always be slow

If you want it to be fast keep it on and it will turn off by itself eventually

 

That's actually not true that Instant-On downloads are always slow. I'm downloading most of my content while in Instant-On and it takes just couple of hours to fully download big games.

That being said, I encountered the same issue that MrBungle06 is talking about after I purchased external HDD and set it as default. In Instant-On it barely downloads anything and I have no idea why.

Can I ask you, what external HDD are you exactly using? Myself, I'm using HGST Touro S 1TB 7200RPM. It works perfectly when I play games installed on it, and also speeds of transferring data between internal and external drives seem fine, and installing
games from discs or downloading while the console is fully powered on is nice and smooth, it's just messed up when it goes into Instant-On.

I can tell the HDD is spinning while in Instant-On, but maybe, I don't know, it's getting less power or something?

Background downloads is always been slow regardless of your speed

A dowoad should take only 30mins depending ln size

Halo mcc is the only one i can think of that would take hours only because of the 50 gig download

 

Hey, Beechbone666! ngocphi is accurate here and background downloads are slower. The console, when installing background to an HDD, it has to do the transfer process while the console isn't on. This thread is a little old. If you need further assistance,
