  1. Instant-on install updates?

I just received an update before trying to play titanfall and checked to see instant-on was on, which it is. It doesn't say downloading, so I assume it is downloaded, but it says updating.

Why doesn't instant-on update/install the updates? Is it supposed to?

    :)

The XB1 can install updates while it's in instant on mode, and the restart options will have the same effect.

    Instant-on install updates?

Sounds like it was just a timing thing. The Instant-on feature is designed to download and install updates while the system if off. That particular update may not have been available or done downloading until after you logged on.

  5. Well I have titanfall downloaded and CoD on disk, both had updates, both were updated just weren't installed. CoD wasn't in the system and I had to put it in to install. I doubt they both downloaded and were about to install when I turned it on, if that
was the case, can't it install and simultaneously install the other?

No, the system can only install one update/program at a time. Everything else goes into the "Queue" and waits for the predecessor to finish.

  7. Why can't it download one and install another? 8 cores not enough?

Otherwise, you really think I logged in right before one of the updates where going to install; either that or there were two and neither of them installed? I think those odds are very slim, either I have a broken xbox or it just doesn't install the updates
when in instant-on; I'd say the latter.

If you aren't a microsoft tech you should provide proof of your claims.

Updating your content requires a license. A license either exists on a Disc or attached to your Xbox Live account depending on how you bought the game. During background update, we will always "attempt" to update your content, regardless of your license
situation, but it wont completely "update" until it sees the license again. I.e. the bits are all there, the system just needs to acknowledge the license. One thing you can do is set a console to be your Home console. This allows all your LIVE licenses
to exist while the kit is turned off.

Also, we have seen a number of network errors that cause background updates to hiccup and stop attempting to update. This is just a best effort practice, so those types of issues will prevent an update, and we will try again at another time in the future.

To answer the number of updates that occur at once, we only attempt to update 1 content at a time, but we will check all content in the process and give each their turn. If we queued up all your content at the same time, you will most likely still be restrained
by your network speed and timing wise will end up close to the same amount of time.
