Instant On features haven't worked in over a year, can anyone help me get it working ...

Ok, so my instant on features do not work. None of them do. The auto system updates don't dl and install automatically, game updates do not dl and install automatically and my xbox on voice command doesn't work for more than one or two times then I have
to use the controller, do a hard reboot and the voice feature works again for a brief time. This happened over a year ago and I can't find any help on how to get it fixed. I did the system restore option twice last year once in the summer after this stopped
working, and once in the fall again on a whim thinking it might help and still I am in the same position. I have all settings checked correctly I promise, and this WAS working for me until about June of 2014 and I have a Day one XB1 as well. I am VERY hesitant
to call support over this as I went through 8 360's (no exaggeration at all I swear) and since my day one xb1 still works, I am not in a rush to get someone's refurbed console. I may be negative about that whole experience, but never once did I get a problem
solved by support that didn't involve shipping in my console.

I have been on LIVE since day one with xbox, got 360 at the launch party in palm desert only to cradle like a baby on plane ride home, to find red ring of doom right out of the box, I preorderd xb1 the day the preorders went live in the spring of 2013. I
am an xbox lover, to a fault even I think given how many 360's I bought to try and get one that wouldn't die on me, lol. I am not saying I deserve some special treatment, but why is there no talk of how to fix this? I KNOW I can't be the only one with this
issue. PLEASE HELP!!!!

How do you find a specific Xbox employee?

Wondering if anyone can help me out. My brother-in-law works for Xbox/Microsoft and is based in Japan. We haven't heard or made contact with him in over a year. The families worried, especially since we haven't heard anything after the earthquakes in Japan.

Does anyone know a way of contacting a member of HR for Xbox? Or anyone that can help us out?

 

Automatic DVR not working

Hi all, since I got my Xbox on 19/03/2014 the automatic DVR feature (records touchdowns in Madden, goals in Fifa etc.) hasn't worked. It's ticked to on in the settings and I can record manually, but it has never recorded automatically. I contacted Xbox support
and they told me that it is currently not working for anyone and that they couldn't help. Anyone having similar problems, have any ideas etc? The suggestion that it is not working for anyone seemed like a way of getting rid of me.

Sorry you're having issues with instant on. You've done most of the console troubleshooting so that's good. I would suggest reseating your kinect and making sure the kinect is free of dust and in an open space. If you're still having issues I would see if
a friend or family member has a kinect they would be willing to test in your console. If it works fine for a day, then it's likely the kinect. If it doesn't work then you probably need to service your console. The Factory Reset would have solved software issues.

 

Have you made that 'when Xbox is off, turn storage off' is unchecked? Also, that your console isn't switched off at the power source when not in use.

 

I rechecked the boxes last night in fact and that turn storage off was not checked. I had it set to start tv on power on....so I did the voice xbox turn off when I left my lunch break to come back to work. I turned the console on with my voice when I got
home, and tv threw an error that it took too long to start, so I tried to go to settings, same error, games and apps, same error. I had to do hard reset in order to get it back working again. Ohhhhh how I don't want to get my console serviced only to never
see it again.

 

Term Royal, I run the xbox on a monster media power strip( monster sure makes their stuff sound fancy eh?) and whenever I turn it off, I use the power button on the front or the voice command, although I am using the button on the front and I am not holding
it for 10 secs for hard reset, just tap it and walk away. I had been just leaving the xbox on alot, but that's not the best thing in the long run for it most likely.....so it truly appears that there is no fix for instant on not working for me.....although
I am trying the kinect deal today. The kinect is pretty responsive when I give it voice commands to just use the system or start a game or app, works REALLY well on plex I think. Thanks for that idea.....I will try that today

 

It meaning xbox, not surge protector power strip...

 

I think the most concerning thing for me is, whenever I do the low power shut off, nothing works when I bring it out of low power mode, I get xxx took too long to start, and I have tried settings, games and app list, tv, help, snap....I haven't tried starting
a game I guess, but this CLEARLY shouldn't be happening to me like this.....frustrating. Especially when I refuse to get into the repair process with MS again. Everytime was a horror story with 360, and I can't imagine the system is any different or better
now. Bummer. I will just have to leave it on all the time I guess or shut it down on energy saving mode and just be *** off everytime I have to watch a progress bar.

 

Can't find anyone to let me use their kinect, so all I could do is disconnect mine. I did and tried bringing up with the controller...and same thing happens when I use the xbox on command when kinect is on the unit....xxx took too long to start and it won't
work right until I hold power button for 10 seconds and then restart it. I went through 5 xbox's, and 8 360's 4 of which I purchased because I hated the repair process so much. so 2 at full freight and then 2 at 299. Then a 500 xb1......if I give any more
money to this failed cause I am simply a fool, and I am already a fool for buying as many previous units that I did. I sincerely hope no one else has to deal with this and if you do, I hope you truly don't care that your xbox doesn't work as advertised. I
know it burns me up just thinking about it. 3 generations of machines that don't work or don't do what they are advertised to do is enough I guess.

 

Plus my over 100 XBLA games that I can't play anymore on xb1, and I have 72 games on my xb1 between internal and external HDD. Before anyone suggests it....these features stopped working long before I got an external hdd, lol.
