Instant-on and turning off console issues since NXOE update.

Ever since the update to the NXOE my console doesn't work consistently with instant-on and when turning the console off.

Instant-on, either with remote, controller or voice command results in the console 9 times out of 10 starting (light comes up on the console) but it does not power up my TV or amp.

If I turn on the TV/amp manually the console is not outputting a display.

I then cannot do anything other than remove the power from the console and restart, which always results in the console starting up properly from scratch.

When turning the console off, similar happens in reverse, the console goes to power down, but it doesn't fully turn off, the white xbox light sits flashing (I've actually left this overnight on one occasion just to check if updates/delays were occurring)
repeatedly and indefinitely.

It also doesn't turn off the TV/amp as it should.

I've never had an issues with this in the 2 years almost that I've had the console, it has started since the new dashboard update.

Has anyone else noted the same, anybody discovered a fix?

At the moment I'm having to constantly pull the plug to get the console on and off properly.

Xbox Interface performance hit when using "Instant On"

i'll have to try turning off instant on, ever since the NXOE all my videos have been stuttering pausing every 1 second or so on all video apps other than netflix. i'll post back what i find out tonight.

 

Xbox is pretty much dysfunctional.

Are you on the NXOE update? and have you tried power cycling your console? Turning it off, unplugging it, leaving it for 10 mins and then plugging it back in and trying again?

 

Hey there, this is the first post I have seen regarding issues with this. I would suggest doing a hard reset (hold the power for 10-15 seconds) then re calibrating your settings for your tv and amp. Hopefully that would sort some of the issues

I can confirm that I've done a hard reset numerous times as that is all I can do when the console locks up and failing that I have to physically pull the plug to cut off the power.

I don't think the issue is calibration with regards to the tv/amp, simply that the console is hanging on start up/shutdown before the devices are IR blasted to switch on/off.

The tv/amp are also turned on every time once I start the console up after a hard reset.

 

So... I've just installed the latest update (was ~300mb for me) and I've still got the same problem!

Incredibly frustrating!

How can I escalate this further?

 

I never seen anything with so many issues why can't they get it right and workng just plug and play ?

 

Contacted xbox support who after walking through steps of powering down for 3 mins, hard reset tests, reseating the plug, making sure it's directly in a wall socket, and then concluding that this isn't a known issue could only suggest a factory reset.

 

Did it work after factory reset ?

 

I declined to factory reset it at this time. I've not got the time nor the bandwidth allowance at present to reinstall all games, apps & settings as well as add back all user accounts in a sledgehammer to a nut approach based on no previous experience to
suggest all that effort would even be successful.

I'll just wait for a potential fix via update and revert the console to power saving mode instead.

 

Just to complete this. I finally got around to performing the factory reset. It didn't work, just slightly changed the result - Now the console sometimes shuts down properly but then it will not start (sits at black screen, doesn't power up devices nor
does it even get to the green Xbox screen, resulting in me having to pull the power and start again or it'll just do the same as before and won't shutdown properly.

Annoying.

This is both with instant-on and power saving mode also.

 

I can say I'v noticed this correlation of the xbox not working and the latest update for another game (Warframe). I can also say I've also followed all of these step's i.e. (hard reset, factory restore) and have yet to receive any positive results. One interesting
thing is when the dashboard gets to the power options in the wizard it freezes/stalls out.
