Installing Games From Disc

Hey, so I feel like when I initially try to install a game my xbox is trying to download it and it goes so slow, my solution was (tested with Halo 5) stop the installation deleted all info cleared cache etc; I then pulled my ethernet cable (as i don't use
wireless) and my installation going the second time round was at least 3x as fast. Just wondering is there a way to make my xbox just always install initially from the disc. Since this is the reason why I buy game disc's to actually use them or we might as
well just be buying codes to redeem if our xbox's don't wanna use the disc. Has become quite frustrating when I dont pull the ethenet cable and having to delete the small amount of downloaded data so it will install from disc without errors.....

Xbox vibrating when downloading a game

When you say downloading a game, do you mean installing from a disc or downloading from Xbox Live? If installing from disc, then there is a some vibration from the the spin of the disc when the game is installing.

Game Installation By Disc Fixed On Xbox One?

Have any of the recent updates fixed game installation by disc? Have heard that game installs by disc can be very long if the One is connected to the internet because the console will download the entire game and updates instead of doing the main game install from the disc. Not sure why this was ever an issue because the console should have been able to detect when a disc is inserted and do the game install from the disc. Only updates should have been downloaded.Click to expand...

When you install by disc it installs from the disc. It doesn't download the entire game, only updates.

Hi RommelCaesar,

The Xbox should by default install from disc first. If you're seeing a delay, then perhaps it's fetching updates at the same time. Halo for example recently had an update over 6GB, so if it was installing that too it could be where you're seeing your
lag. If you want to be offline while you install the disc, then I would suggest going to your network settings and selecting "Go Offline". When the game has completed, you can go back to your network settings and turn the connection back online. There is not
a setting to change the way a game installs or defaults your console to go offline while the installation takes place.

If you would like that feature added, I would suggest going to this
feedback site and searching to see if someone else submitted it and upvoting, or create a new request.

Its always a lot faster installing a disc while disconnected to the internet.

Pre- NXOE update this was often suggested as the best way to install games.

If the original install of the game was from disc it will expect the disc to be in the console. You would need to remove the game and install from the cloud to not have it expect the disc in the console.

If you are installing off of a disc, then disconnect your system from the internet. The patch and the game install are fighting against each other. Disconnect, install the game from disc, reconnect, and install patch.

Hey all,

In order to access the DLC in the game you will need to install the game from Disc 2. So if you currently have installed from Disc 1, be sure to delete the game and then install again from Disc 2 for all of the DLC to be installed.

Try those steps and see if they help out.

No, you cannot "Download" a Game from Disc. You can Install a Game Disc. Installing a Game does not negate having to use the Disc though.
