Installing game to flash drive and functionality.

I have an Xbox 360E Slim w/4GB internal memory.

I want to install games on a 32GB Flash Drive. I understand that I still need to insert the disk and the system will automatically run the program from the flash drive. I have read about the problem of possibly having the flash drive just randomly become
corrupt. If that were to happen, or if I removed the flash drive, would the game then automatically run from the disk when I inserted it?

Have you tried installing the update to a flash drive (not FROM a flash drive) instead of the hard drive?

Try unplugging all USB flash drives, and deleting the game off your HDD. Without installing the game to your HDD start it up and see if it gives you the same error, but leave the USB Flash drives out of the xbox.

Personally, I have no idea as I have never used a Flash Drive. I have 250 GB HDD and with all the "Free with Gold" games I have no more room to store them all. Saints Row: The 3rd I just downloaded, tried a bit, and deleted it as I have little room left
on the HDD.

It would however be nice to be able to put a few of the FWG games on a flash drive though.

I bought this console solely to run Rocksmith 2014. (A game for learning electric guitar using a real guitar) Because it would have been too expensive to upgrade my laptop to run it. I also bought the previous version of that game but it is extremely slow
from disk. At this point I really don't need to get a hard drive since these are the only 2 games I will be playing at this time. I understand that a flash drive can be as fast, or faster, than an HDD. It will be interesting to see what others say.

 

Ive been using USBs to run games for at least 3 years. GTA V, Alice in Wonderland and all of my arcade games are on USBs. Ive never had a corrupt file on a flash drive either *knock on wood*. Its just some games require you to install on the HDD and not
a USB. Like Battlefield, and I think Halo did as well.

Do you know what happens if you don't have the flash drive in the console and just the disk?

 

If Rocksmith is your game of choice, I STRONGLY recommend the purchase of a small HDD. (Hard Drive) 20-60GB should be enough.

The better you get the more songs You'll want to play. You will need to store those songs on a HDD.

I should be able to get one at a good price on Amazon or Ebay.

 

You can often get a 320 GB HDD for $50.00 or less on ebay from time to time. Just make sure it's for the 360 Slim, and it does not have to be an Official Microsoft Drive, unless, like me you also desire to play Halo Combat Evolved on it. Then it has to be
the Official Microsoft version. Ratz!
