installing game speed

can anybody tell me why xbox one is so slow at installing games. i have a ps4 also and it take about 2 mins to install a game and the xbox takes a good 2-4 hours which i find is ridiculous.

Gears of War 3 won't work.

You might try installing the game to your Xbox. I had a similar issue with one of the Need for Speed titles, but installing the game first resolved it.

 

Xbox One S game installation question

Alot of the disc install times were caused by the console downloading updates for the game at the same time as installing the game. There is a noticable speed difference if you go offline before installing.

 

i seem to recall reading somewhere that Phil Spencer stated they were looking into ways of speeding up the installs, but if you're installing from disc, try taking your X1 offline to install and it will be much fast, part of the issue is that the X1 tries
to download and install updates before installing the game, and some of the games have massive updates.

 

If it's a big problem then play your ps4 while waiting to play on the Xbox one

 

Ya know, I find this really weird. I personally have no issues with install times. However, some of my personal friends have had strange occurences where they take hours. Literally, my average install time is around 8 minutes. No exaggeration

 

If you have a good ISP (I have FiOS) you will not have issues downloading games.

The reason the PS4 games download so quickly is because no one is playing them.

As Zero mentioned, put your console into "Offline Mode" when installing from a disc. After it is installed, then you can put it back online and sit there for another 2 hours while the gigantic updates/patches download.

 

I honestly don't notice a difference overall. The difference is the X1 downloads and installs the patches at the same time, while the PS4 does it separately. took like 15 mins to install bloodborne for me, then i had to install a 3.6GB patch after which
took like an hour, on the xbox it does it all in one shot so it might appear longer, but in reality it's about the same its just a matter of doing it at once and being done or doing 1 thing quicker then after launching having to do the patch separately.

 

This is the only thing that I'm gonna have some concern with once I finally pick up the x1 on the 1st of June. Though it shouldn't be a major deal as I'm buying for the exclusives so really I will only have to put up with this every couple of months.

 

Usually takes me 10 minutes or so. I don't log out.

 

^^ same here usually pretty quick..I think the game that gave me the longest install that i questioned was Ryse as it seemed to take longer than any game i have ever installed combined.

 

The install time is one of the many reason's I prefer sticking to physical games. I can install them a lot faster while offline. If I did digital downloads I'd have to leave it on overnight or while I go to work.

 

borderlands with its monster patch took me about 10 hours to install

 

ill take halo as an example, must be down to network speeds also as halo can install from scratch, including the update in 45 minutes, near enough 60GB in 45 minutes, now that is not bad at all.
