Installing Game First Time-"An Update is Required. You must be singed in to Xbox Live and ...

I have installed the game, get the error message "An Update is required, you must be signed in to xbox live and accept the update to play call of duty WWII.

HI have not singed up for an xbox live membership, though an connect to the internet, do i need live to even play the offline campaign? Please help..

Game updates? (new to Xbox One!)

If you are connected to LIVE when doing a game install, the install time will increase as the console will always (at the moment at least) download the latest game update before installing the content from the Blu-ray disc.

To get around this issue, disconnect your console from Xbox LIVE and install your game in offline mode. You can then download the updates for your games later. At the moment, if you wish to play a game offline without installing a patch, you must disconnect
your console from Xbox LIVE. You do not need to download an update to play the single player portion of a game, simply install the game offline and play from there.

Once you have the day one update for the console, you will not be required to install any further updates until you connect your console to LIVE again. Please note that to play any games online with other Xbox LIVE players, your chosen game
MUST be updated to do so.

why download on disc content to xbox one?

The disc must be installed because of load times - it's a lot quicker to read from the hard drive than from the disc. What's likely causing it to take a long time is that the Xbox is likely downloading and installing updates from the internet at the same
time. Some people report faster install times if you disconnect from Xbox Live (Settings > Network > Go Offline), installing from the disc, and then connecting and downloading/installing the update after (rather than trying to do both at the same time).

For the record, the PS4 has the same issue - games must be installed to the hard drive.

 

You don't need a gold subscription to sign into Live for the update. Offline campaigns would not require gold.

 

No even I do not have a Gold subscription but just finished playing the offline offline campaigns. The story was brilliant. And yea must say that COD WWII was worth the wait ;-)
