Installing from disk after digital purchase. Can it be done?

So I bought Shadows of Mordor online from the store. My friend has the disk version. Can I borrow his disk and install from it to save myself a huge wait time or will I need the disk? Has anyone tried this with any other game out there?

yup as stated above.. you can install of disk than do the digital purchase and the "digital license will still hold true.. i did this with bf4.. i had the disk because of day1 pre order/launch when i got ea access/the vault games i got it as a full digital no disk required and the digital code took over i now dont need the disk at all.

 

Titanfall 2 video glitch

I rented titanfall 2 and never had that issue is it a digital purchase or disk if it was digital I would delete It and re install if it's disk try cleaning it maybe?

 

You'll have to test it out.

I've done it the opposite way and it works. Had Titanfall on disk installed, bought digital version and the game works fine, didn't have to re-install a thing.

You can install the game using the disk and play without it as you already have the digital license.

 

Exactly what Ausbruch said. If you don't want to do the download, borrow the disc and install that. The files are exactly the same. The disc installation will also do all title updates for you (if you're online) so you should need to do any further updates
after the initial installation.

And because you actually own the digital licence, you have no need for the disc afterwards.

 

Absolutely. I can confirm that this works as I had a disc version of Destiny but decided to go digital. I didn't have to redownload the digital version at all as it was already installed.
