    Installed Update, Console is stuck on a black screen but isn't completely unresponsive.


    So to explain what I'm going through exactly...

    Installed the system update. Seems to have installed fine.

    Console goes through the loading screen with no issue.
    Console has rebooted, there is no home screen whatsoever.

    Console still gives me the welcome notification on fully booting up.

    Controller inputs can be taken (such as holding the Home button and getting the system overlay menu to reboot/turn off console/etc)

    Hard reboot (fully powered off, including unplugged) does not fix this
    I have not factory reset my console (And I would really rather avoid doing that)
    My friend has reported no issue with the latest update.
    I can still access the recovery mode but haven't attempted to install the update while offline.

    I'm at a complete loss for what to do. This is clearly not normal and I don't think the factory reset nor offline install options will work given that this is a result of the latest update.

    My xbox is stuck on the applying update page.

    Same here, console was working fine last night with update installed, but since this morning keeps getting stuck at the black screen (after green loading)...tech support recommended the diagnostic tool, am also now stuck at about 75%...

    Same thing here. Just installed the latest update an hour back and now the Xbox one is stuck on black screen.

    Oh I have to do this every time this black screen appears. No other way to reset the unresponsive console.

    What do you mean it opens at your home screen and then nothing? Are you stuck on the dashboard or is it a black or green screen?

    If you are stuck on a black or green screen you can try the offline diagnostic tool that has helped people get passed the blank screen before:
