  1. Installed game runs slower than on disk.

I noticed that loading times on Eternal Sonata (which had a recent update, not sure what for) are extremely long when playing the game on my Xbox 360 hard drive, but things play normally when I'm on the disk. Any reason this would be? I thought that games
normally load faster when they are installed.

    :)

Installed game runs slower than on disk.

Since it is a Xbox 360 hard drive it has probably had a lot installed on it throughout the years. Its memory may not work the way it used too. I would honestly suggest retiring your Xbox 360 and upgrading to an Xbox One X. Now is the time especially with
the Xbox Series X on it's way.

However, if you want to continue. I would install the game on an external memory source connected through your 360 and play that way.

    I really hope this helps!!!

I tried to look this up a bunch of different ways on a couple different browsers to see if I could find something and, no matter how I posed the question... everything was a little unclear. I feel like the answer is probably the simplest. The way a console
like the Xbox 360 reads data off a disc, compared to reading it off the hard drive, faster may be because your system cache needs to be cleared. Doing so may free up the console to more or less 'think' faster so to speak. Its a similar process on the Xbox
One, things start running slow so clearing the local cache typically helps.

    Hi

Hard drives degrade over time, plus they become fragmented with bits of data stored all over the drive rather than more consequently like a new or freshly formatted hdd.

The fastest drives to use on a 360 are high speed branded USB flash drives. Flash drives have much superior access and seek times than HDD's, simply because there's no moving parts.

    Downloading time

When you put the disk in it doesn't actually download the game. It installs the game on your Xbox. Installing a game off disk is a lot quicker than downloading the digital game. A lot of times if you are installing the game it will also download any updates
to the game at the same time. This can make things run slower. So I would suggest waiting to download the update after you install the game.

Also, the reason that you still need the disk in the Xbox to play the game after you have installed it, is to ensure that you still own the rights to play that game. Otherwise, people could just go rent a game and play it forever.

I am not 100% sure why this console needs to install games rather than just play it off the disk. I would assume it is because games now days have a lot more data. And the console would not be able to process that amount of information
properly off disk run the game. You need to remember back in the days of the 360 games on average would only be 4GB. Now on the Xbox one your average game is 30GB. This might also be Xbox's way of quality insurance, to ensure that all games run the best they
    can.

    Hope this helps, Happy Gaming!!!!

    play from hard drive

Xbox Live disk games haven't been ever been able to play games off of the hard drive after they are installed. The disk must be in the disk drive to play the game. Installing games to the hard drive causes the disk to spin less once it is in the disk drive,
which causes slower loading times and makes the Xbox quieter.
