Do you have a Hard Disk Drive installed on your 360? Original Xbox games will not function on the Xbox 360 unless there is one installed (the reason being, I suspect, is that it has to go through an emulation process - this is also the reason why some Original
Xbox titles are incompatible with the Xbox 360).

If this is not the issue (and you are using an HDD), what errors are you getting when trying to play the game disc?

All games available on the Xbox marketplace will also be compatible with all systems, (with the exception of Kinect-only titles on Xbox One, which aren't compatible with other systems).

All titles provided as part of Games With Gold, Game Pass, and Ultimate are also compatible with Xbox One and Xbox S/X, (with Xbox360 and some Original Xbox titles working on Xbox360).

Please note that Original Xbox titles and some Xbox360 titles no-longer support online features or DLC.

Thanks for your post! The "Mercenaries" title listed on Games with Gold is an Xbox Original game. Games that are Xbox Original and backward compatible to the Xbox 360 need to be installed on a Microsoft branded Xbox Hard drive. This is why the console is
producing the error message mentioned above.

Error 0x87e00064 seems to be associated with disc-read errors, or the game is having trouble getting installed.

I assume this is your problem, yet I don't know what you've tried already (other than factory reset) or what sites you've visited to solve this issue.

Yes, as long as it is on the same Console the Content was originally Downloaded on. Keep in mind though, some EA Titles/ Add-ons Lock the Content to only the Profile that DL's it to begin with (online Passes and such).
