I am quite new to the Overwatch scene, however I have been playing near enough everyday for the past month (approximately 14 hours in my stats) to Level up enough to gain access to the Competitive Play.

I am currently Level 22 and would just like some tips for the competitive play. Unfortunately I do not have anyone to play with as my friends are all on PC

Honestly I wouldn't say I am a terrible newbie but Competitive is a whole new world compared to Competitive from what I have read and watched.

Any tips would be a great help and if anyone would be game for playing together that's cool. My tag is (which is shown as the recipient of this post also)

I too have Overwatch but havent played a lot lately. The competitive mode is certainly a step up from quick play. And I also dont have any friends who also play on xbox. Probably the biggest tip is get some friends together. Its much easier playing with
a like minded group than as an individual with randoms just doing their own thing. Team work is key in this game as Im sure you have already worked out. Use the groups feature on the xbox to start your own group and sign people up. Good luck.

 

Competitive mode is a different beast, honestly. I personally feel that doing it without a group that is as into it as you makes it harder. Communication and reactions are key in Competitive mode, and having a random pick up group makes that difficult. Think
of Competitive mode more like how people play in Team Fortress 2 or MOBA games; they do it with a group of friends and plan out attacks kind of like a competitive sports teams.

You could do the placement matches by yourself, but if you get placed severely below friends of yours (those that are on Xbox), you cannot play with them in groups after. Support characters also take a bit more of a hit because they don't do as much damage,
so do placement matches as offense, defense, or tanks.

Once Clubs become available to everyone, as opposed to only in Preview right now, it will make finding a group easier for you. You could join a competitive club for Overwatch then and play in groups that are in the Club. This will be similar to how Beacons
worked on the Xbox 360 (if you remember those). Sometimes there's threads in these forums where people are looking for others to group with them. If you can't find one immediately, you can always post a new one!
