This has been going on for a week now... have tried factory reset, and offline update. No luck.

Suggestions?

XBOX One (X) insiders update failing... HELP!

I am having an update issue on Xbox One X... not sure what the original error reported was (retried) but have seen 0x800701E7, and 0x87DD0019 as well as E101, etc... update is being forced from 10.0.17134.4054 to 10.0.17134.4056

Downloads fine most times, errors out seemingly randomly...

Have tried reset (keeping files and not keeping files) with same result, moves to update tab and then fails again...

Also tried to do an offline update. Created media, entered startup troubleshooter, recognized media, update fails in similar fashion.

Is there a way to move to original OS and start over?

Is my system bricked?

stuck in update loop

I am in the Xbox preview and my Xbox is set to auto update. It is currently stuck in an update loop and giving error E101 and E102.

I have tried hard resetting which fails, I have tried offline update OSU1, OSU2 and OSU3 along with the offline factory reset all of which fails.

System error: E101 00000504 8B050041

OS Version: 16299.3033

RS3 release Xbox Dev 1710.171018.1900

Console ID: 77146892.efdc8b73.6316b2b2.6779e001.01

version is currently 10.0.1734.4054 as stated in the subject of the post... update was trying to move to 4056.

I did try to do an offline update again today, this time to the factory reset download (much smaller). First attempt was the "osu1" download.

I've ran into the E101 error a couple of times when offline updating and it tends to happen when the osu1 file is a lower version than the one listed on your boot menu.

The OSU1 update is the one recommended for the E101 error. Os version 10.0.1734.4056 went live 05-07-2018 so it should be in the osu1 file on Xbox support, it's worth a shot if you haven't tried it with that version. Otherwise it's a trip back to the factory
to have the drive sorted.

Sorry i can't think of anything else you can try other than using a different USB drive or changing which slot you put it in when you try the update.

Solved: turns out the osu1 download was dated 5/11/2018 and DID not yet include the new build. I re-downloaded and the new osu1 has a created date of 2/37/2018 and worked like a charm. Your E101 version hint led me to check for a newer download. Microsoft
please coordinate your file availability. I am sure for some people this would have resulted in an unnecessary trip back to the repair facility.

So glad you got it sorted. I'am quite surprised the boot menu doesn't have a hardware test feature or backs up firmware so you can revert to a previous working version, most PC's can do it why can't the Xbox it would save a lot of time and hassle especially
as a lot of people run into problems like this.
