    Right, now i know that beginning a post with "am I being unreasonable" almost always means I'm being unreasonable, but...

    I've recently moved to malaysia. Xbox live here is terrible, no apps hardly any games, but there hasn't been a problem connecting to live and playing games, until the latest update.

    Now every time I want to play a game I have to either unplug the internet or clear my cache 3 times, delete all updates, reinstall all updates then boot up the game I want to play. If I want to play a different game half way through the night we have to
    do it all over again. Thats annoying.

    I took two hours on Saturday night finding out how to do that with a nice person from Chat support.

    Monday night I had the same problem, but I also realised that I can't play games on line; (I've been completing GTA5 quite slowly). When I went to chat support again they first told me that I didn't have gold. I did, they charged me. It turns out that they
    had credited my english xbox live account with gold, but not my malaysian one.

    I only have one account, I migrated it properly when we moved here.

    She then told me that the reason I couldn't play was because you can't get Gold membership in Malaysia. Well, I've had it and been playing with it. Admittedly not so much since I've been playing GTA5, but i've played that on line here.

    She then offered me a refund of an xbox live voucher for 9 months.

    By my reckoning, that is no use at all, since as she explained I can't get xbox live gold.

    I live here and I have no plans to go home so why on earth would I want a voucher for a service I can't use (anymore apparently)

    Since I have migrated my account when I could, like many others do, have just kept on using my english account Xbox knew where I now lived. If I can't use gold services here what right did they have to charge me for them?

    Of course she claimed that its impossible to give refunds, but a company like microsoft would have forty pounds and an envelope knocking around the place wouldn't they?

    I think this is shockingly bad service.

    Shame on you Microsoft!

    Refund policy

    You can log into your Microsoft account on the website and navigate to recent purchases and select to get help with the order or you can visit Contact Us | Xbox Support and
    open an online support chat with the Xbox support team to request the refund. Please note purchases on the Xbox Store are final but you may qualify for a once-off refund.

    oh my god, they've put me down to level 1! I got xbox live on the original xbox, this is ridiculous, the only reason they put a year counter on is for bragging rights!

    Hi there,

    The problem is that xbox live isn't supported in Malaysia and if you migrate an account to an unsupported region any in that region unsupported features likely not work anymore like mentioned here:

    support.xbox.com/.../change-region


    The charging for xbox live gold when it isn't available does seem strange and I do advise contacting Xbox Support again for that issue. Xbox Support are the only ones capable of handling refund requests, nobody can help here in the forums.

    Regarding the level 1 which is shown on your gamercard in the forums, this isn't your xbox live gold tenure, but it is the level you have in the forums which is a different thing.

    COULD they give you a refund? Sure. However it states in the Terms of Service THAT YOU AGREED TO, that there are no refunds. Period. End of Story. You migrated your account without paying attention to the feature availability and you've lost out, that's
    on you. It would be NICE if Microsoft helped you out, but they are under no obligation to fix your mistake, and it IS your mistake.

    Take the 9 months, migrate your account back when you are able to and see if it works once you migrate it back.

    There is no refunds past the first 30days and it requires a credit card on file

    Even then

    You have to have a payment option for them to refund to otherwise they can only give you a voucher for the remaining time

    I'm sorry but name one company that will refund you in after 90days and based on user error

    Rather then product issue

    Good luck finding one

    You should feel lucky they offered a prepaid code
