Input Lag and Output Resolution

I've already changed all the display settings I've read about on my LG UF7300 TV and still have bad input lag. My question is will changing the output resolution from 1080p to 720p on my Xbox One help reduce the input lag?

If not, does anyone have any suggestions I may not have come across to help reduce input lag? Does running the audio through something other than the TV speakers really make much of a difference?

About the only thing you can do is set your tv input to Game Mode if it has one. It won’t eliminate input lag but it’ll make it better by turning off most of the extra processing.

To prevent input lag, you should make it, so your TV only has to process as few things as possible.

So if your TV is a FullHD TV, you should keep your resolution at 1080p, otherwise the TV has to calculate and scale up your 720p image to 1080p to display a full-screen image.

Most TVs have a lot of image enhancements turned on by default, like smoothing movement by calculating interpolated frames to get to 120Hz or much higher refresh rates.

Look into the settings menu or the user manual of your TV to check if it has a so called "Game mode" or "Direct mode", where all image processing by the TV is turned off.

Every image enhancement feature the TV does to "improve" image quality, will take processing time, which will cause input lag. For non-interactive videos like a TV broadcast or a movie from a DVD or streaming service, it doesn't matter
if the video image shows up several microseconds later. So you can still have sharper contrast or whatever your TV tries to do with it's image processor during such non-interactive use.

But for interactive gaming, turn off as much image enhancements as possible.

Xbox outputs 60hz so that's not really an issue, you want a tv with low input lag.

I have never seen a HTIB or an AVR induce video lag, that always happens at the screen due to image processing. The audio system will output the audio correctly but it could be ahead of the TV if it has a high amount of input lag. When you play games on
the TV with it connected directly, do you feel input lag? Also, if you post the model number, we can help find how high/low the input lag is on that specific model.
