Infrared lights won't come on for controller

So the controller that came with my console works fine and was already synced to the console out of the box. I bought the GameStop bundle that came with an extra controller for Xmas. I haven't touched the second controller until yesterday (01/31/2014). I
bought FIFA 14 (love the game btw) and had a friend come over to play some co-op. However, I could not get the other controller to sync at all. I turned the controller on so the light was blinking, pressed the sync button on the Xbox, then the sync button
on the controller. Nothing. It just keeps blinking at the same slow pace. I noticed that the two red lights on top of the controller that are on my other working controller are not on at all. Is this an issue with the controller? Thanks.

Xbox controller doesn't illuminate

Controller connects and works fine, but the xbox button doesn't light up, i do have 2 flashing infrared lights on the controller. Can anyone help please??

Hi Yeti- can you try enrolling the controller using the Kinect? Try these methods,

support.xbox.com/.../connect-a-wireless-controller and let us know if any of them worked. Also try Fresh Batteries. Pay particular attention to the buttons that need to be pressed and in what order.

 

Thank you for the response. I have tried every option on the support page to a T (except for the micro usb cable, I only have an iPhone so I don't have a micro usb cable). I have tried putting new batteries in and cycling the the power of the console. Like
I said, I have followed the instruction perfectly and in order. I still notice that the red infrared lights on the front of the second controller do not turn on at all. Can anyone confirm if they are supposed to be on when you are trying to sync?

 

Pull out the batteries in the controller that works, and try pairing the new one before pairing the original. If that doesn't work, it's likely you have a faulty controller.

 

I've found that if you press and hold the sync buttons on both the console and the new controller at the same time and for 5 seconds, it will sync up in less than a minute.. Make sure the controller that came with the console is turned off as it helped in
the sync process.
