Information please?

Can anyone playing on PC tell me if Cyrodil is overrun with slavering sociopaths who would be happy bombing a red cross field hospital because they are just full of wusses and milk-drinkers? I've been reading the official forums and getting depressed. There
is way too much anger and testosterone out there. Most of you are guys, is it really asking too much to be able to integrate a world like Tamriel into an MMO without the all combat all the time contingent heaping abuse on the flower pickers? I always thought
that MMOs were as much about looting and crafting as about death and destruction. Please someone talk me down. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll even want to keep playing by the time this finally arrives on console.

Adding pvp to the game attracts the crowd you mention. I am not a big fan of it myself and even though I'm vr8 now I still haven't been in Cyrodiil. The pvp is very popular though so it helps Zenimax pays their bills. The PC mmo pvp crowd are renown for
being one of the worse gaming communities. Personally I don't even read the official forums. Helps keep me in my happy place

 

Thank you, Chemist, it helps to know I'm not alone. I think maybe I should stop reading that forum also. In fact someone once started a thread advising that and was roundly attacked so I guess I should have paid attention then. It bothers me that so many
are so intolerant. They act like it should be WoW in Tamriel not Elder Scrolls with some PvP. I know lots of people wanted to be able to play with their friends in Skyrim but it seemed to me that they were asking for coop not PVP. But what do I know. Thanks

The thing with mmo's is there is always so many different sorts of players from the good and the bad. Once you play them for awhile you figure out what playstyle you prefer. The pvp crowd are just the loudest and alot of the time the most hardcore but that
doesn't really mean they are the majority. I know people who pay their sub for the game and only log in for a few hours a night.

 

PVP brings an interesting aspect to the game. Personally, I love PVP because it is so unpredictable...it extracts the dark side out of game. PVE can be just as harsh in my opinion...there are a lot of individuals that will refuse to raid with you just because
your not wearing good enough armor; furthermore, I believe this game is going to attract the worst crowds because it is so centralized...sometimes I feel as though I'm participating in a social experiment.

 

I started off on pvp servers when I first started playing mmos and even got into competitive arena for a while but because I am in Australia latency becomes an issue when you try and get too heavily invested in pvp. Once I realised this I moved to pve servers
and have been a pve player ever since.

The megaserver definitely is a melting pot of many different sorts of people. The EU players tend to play on the EU server though even though its still not located in EU. I've started chatting on the official forums lately since they changed the layout.
It needed a main general discussion forum when everyone can just bring a random topics.

 

What really bugs me is that the developers said at the beginning that players could play with like-minded people and avoid the rabble if they so desired. That seems to have been passed over. It just really bothers me that I will probably not be able to go
to Cyrodil unless I play for a very long time. It took me 2 years to learn enough and get brave enough to play Skyrim on master.

I can understand the PvP contingent being unhappy about all the solo questing and restricted areas for PvP but really, it is supposed to be an Elder Scrolls game and allowing free carnage is just counter to that, even having come from the carnage of Skyrim.
I would never have bought the game at all had it been all combat anywhere. It's just not my style. And, yes, I know I'm just being a girl about it but there it is.

On a happier note, I finally cracked a chest. I looked on the wiki and it had a good hint and I found a simple chest with no one around and managed it on the second try! I progress!

 

Chemist, are you saying I might be able to peek in at the official forum again so long as I don't look at anything concerning the alliance war? Sometimes it was interesting but I have learned that even though the forum managers consider an lol to be a good
thing many use it as a laugh of derision. I don't need to be agreed with so long as someone has a reasoned counter but the nastiness i see gets to me.

 

Well the general discussion forum seems ok. They didn't have one when I was there last. Usually a large general discussion forum is well moderated and a bit more light hearted.

 

I've actually started going into Cyrodiil now just to do quests and skyshards etc and its massive. You could travel around there for ages and not see anyone.

 

That sounds good. If I pick off peak times maybe I can avoid the PKs who have bragged that that's what they like to do…go kill questers and sightseers. :[

 

The only thing is that the monsters and mobs are all vr5 so you won't be able to do a lot of the quests in there until you get to a higher level. Definitely easy enough to avoid them though and just sight see. I would recommend Auriels Bow as a home campaign
for AD because we seem to hold most the resources in there but Wabbajack is starting to get a AD presence now as well.

 

Is this a bot? Today, I was practically alone in Auridon and as I clicked E on a Jute someone walked under my nose and snatched it away. I know it was a bot because of the random letter name but it made me wonder about something I've noticed happening to
me fairly often lately. Besides the shear lack of resources I will see a jute or reagent or log and when Click on it it disappears but there is no one around anywhere. I am perplexed and wondered if it had been taken by someone and the image just stayed or
what? It is confusing and more than a little irritating. Today particularly since I was just trying to do some collecting and rearranging of my stuff which is getting out of hand.
