Information on ddos attacks

Hi just wanted to bring to light a massive problem me and my friends have been encountering online on games such as rainbow six siege and other competitive games.

Recently we have became victims and witnesses of ddos attacks by other players online who are putting stress onto a server to give them an unfair advantage or more viciously ddos other players to send them offline which can last around 10 minutes.

I have been digging around and have found a video that i believe is being used to educate these people on how to ddos, link: [Mod Removed]

I hope that this information can be spread around to help mitigate the attacks and overall improve our online experience.

For the meantime I would advise against joining parties from random players online as this can make yourself vulnerable to these attacks.

You can report any gamer you suspect of this but DDoS attacks happen outside of Xbox Live and game servers. They are a direct attack on your IP address and if you know who is doing it (or not) at the time of an attack, report it to your ISP https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/networking/dos-attacks-faq

DDOS attacks are against the modem and are not something either Xbox Live or PlayStation Network can stop.

This page will explain how to restore service after an attack. If such an attack occurs, users are advised to contact their Internet Service Provider (ISP), which has the tools and the means to trace the attack and deal with the offending party.

Information hasn't been touched, it's a DDoS attack.

The problem is, since DDoS attacks (which is what is actually booting offline) don't originate from the Xbox Live service, Microsoft can't really do much.

Instead, you need to contact your Internet Provider, who can start logging your connection, so they have evidence of the DDoS attack happening, and then press legal charges, as DDoS attacks are illegal.
