Influence of regions for game discs

Hello, I have xbox 360 which is designated for USA market, however now I am in Europe and want to buy a game disc. The question is- will my console read it and I will have opportunity to play a game from disc drive?

Region Free

Both the PS4 and Xbox One are region free. I haven't heard much of a fuss made over this because it is a big deal!

Does this apply to games, blu-ray discs or both?

How will this affect the high street if it is cheaper to buy games abroad?

Will games get a global release to stop gamers buying games from the US if it is released there first?

Can UK high street shops sell movies/games from the US.

This move could shake up region coded discs. The PS2 influenced the sale of DVDs. Could these consoles influence region coded media?

I think on the high-street in can depend on the amount of that game they have, which can influence the price they sell/pay.

Online, i wouldn't really trust buying pre-owned games as you can get some really terrible discs

As long as the discs are NTSC then they will work. However, most European discs are PAL. So you will have to check discs carefully before you purchase them.

That too ^ I wonder what the difference in apps will be or how that will influence other regions.

It's not a bad disc. It has to do with the region of the disc vs. the region of your console. US used NTSC region coding and Australia uses PAL. Generally NTSC discs won't work on a PAL console and vice versa unless the disc is region free.

So when you purchase games you'll either need to purchase a PAL version or make sure the disc is region free.

But the original Microsoft policies put DRM in the best possible way as a positive influence, sharing one game between 10 people and not needing the disc to be in to play, invalidating the disc instead. But no, the crybabies ruined it. I only hope the option
to reinstitute the policies comes up (irreversible to prevent piracy).

The best thing to do would be to return it. There's no way to change the region for a disc game. It's related to disc regions which would be hard coded into the disc drive. When buying discs, you'd need to make sure to buy the right region for your console.
The US typically uses NTSC so the disc would have to be NTSC. Other regions use PAL and would need PAL discs. There are some discs that can work with either.
