Infinite Download Screen When Changing Avatar Gender

Before anyone asks, I am a girl wanting to change my avatars gender from female to male solely on the fact I think the male avatars have much spiffier clothing and accessories. At any rate, for the last month or so I have been trying to change the gender,
again, from female to male but for whatever reason, the screen keeps at an infinite view that shows the doors and the different clothing going from left to right and says "Updating Avatar clothes and accessories..." And it stays like for however long I'm willing
to let it. Whether it be for five minutes or over an hour. Already I have tried clearing my system cache and turning it off and on and rebooting my router but I get the same results. Does anyone have solution to this problem? :/

Changing the information on windows live id will NOT effect your gamertag. However, I do not believe you have the option to select gender when creating your gamertag. Regardless, it would not effect your account. The only thing I can think of is the gender
of your avatar - which is for selfexpression... and the only restriction is gender has to match avatar items. But you can change the avatar gender.

I have the same problem. I've had a male avatar since I made my account a few years ago, and I decided I wanted to change him to female, but I can't get rid of him, because that same error occurs when I try to make a new one. My internet connection is fine,
and I can leave the screen by pressing the home button and selecting something else, but I've even left it on that screen overnight and it never progresses. Anyone else have any advice?

 

Okay, so I managed to solve this issue by disconnecting my Xbox from the Internet, making my new avatar, and then reconnecting. Going to the customize avatar screen again after the new one is in place and you're reconnected to Live will result in the update
screen popping up again, but it actually progressed this time and finished quickly, at least for me. Hopefully this works out for others.
