Inescapable Second Visit to Forlorn Ruins, Game Ending bug?

Possible Spoilers below, please do not read unless you are very far through the game or have completed it.

I am stuck in the Forlorn Ruins as the game will not let you out the same you leave the first time you escape the ruins. Having got through most of the map I had been going back to mop up collectibles and noticed you cannot return to the Forlorn Ruins.
However, I fell through the floor and ended up inside the area that is blocked off by a big boulder.

Thinking that this is a secret way of getting back in to the ruins I took it. Getting through the ruins is hard because you no longer have the orb to protect you. It is possible though and I am now at the end of it. The game will not let you escape this
way and simply returns you to the last save point.

Has anyone else managed to get stuck in the ruins after already completing it? Is it escapable? If not, let this be fair warning that you can get stuck here and it will end your game. Any help appreciated, would rather not start the whole game again if
possible.

Can't Save Past Forlorn Ruins

I am saved at the end of the Forlorn Ruins, and whenever I go any further and save then go back to the main menu, I am still only at that save at the Forlorn Ruins. I have actually beaten the game by not quitting out of the game at all, but saves are ineffective.
I tried just beating the Sorrow Pass part then saving and quitting, but same result. I still have to start back at the Forlorn Ruins. Has anybody else had this happen? Super frustrating that I can't save at all.

 

Lost Save Data

I made the mistake of continuing the game even though I had decided to wait for the patch to be rolled out. And here we go again: ended up losing Forlorn Ruins now for the second time. Not sure if I have the patience to do it one more time even when the
patch comes out. Good game, but this critical bug kills the joy...

 

Sadly, I have the same issue. And the funny thing is, I can't remember how I even got back in the Forlorn Ruins if the boulder is in the way. There's even a switch I can't use. It's a shame too. Because I was starting to get really invested in the story.
Looks like my journey ends here because there is no way I'm starting over again.
