Independence Day (United States)

As a Brit one thing I do envy is your general patriotism, we lack that here, fair play to you. happy 4th July!

 

Like Grenchy, I also envy your patriotism. It's the one thing us Brits are missing, well along with confidence. In my local area we can no longer have a Christmas tree up in the main bit of town in case it "offends" anyone.
Also a few people round here have been told to take down Union Jacks (British flags) for the same reason. I put mine up a couple of months ago, but I've not had any letters through the post, yet. Anway, I hope you yanks enjoy Independence day!

I have a block party to attend at noon (my block... on the water... so so so nice) then a BBQ at my job @ 5 ( we are closed but people will be there, customers etc) then we go to the beach ( a block away) where there is a carnival and then the fireworks
at 9:30.. then back to my job afterwards to finish the beers... then home... then work for 5 hours and then I am on vacation for a week

 

I did my 4th of July stuff last night because I work on the 4th

But it was fun, the only holiday I really enjoy. I can blow stuff up and nobody questions my motives LOL.

 

The Brits love us and they like to celebrate with us. The two countries are like BFF's.

Anyway, I'm having family over and making home made pizzas. The best firework display in metro Denver can be seen right from my porch.

 

I'm just jealous about the fireworks, the sale of them got banned a few years ago here and we were like the last state where it was legal ='(

 

Everytime the 4th of July comes around it always reminds me of that movie with aliens and Will Smith in it.. Called Independence Day Anyway happy 4th of July American People

 

History lesson... July 2, 1776 is when we independence was formally declared. July 4, 1776 is when Congress approved the final text of the declaration and then on August 2, 1776 was when the declaration was signed. But I will be celebrating all weekend
while my Xbox One and PS4 stayed powered down till Monday.

 

Working as I work for a water utility and if my schedule falls on a holiday then I have no choice. The plus side is that I am getting paid $1000 for two days of work. Due to how they do our holiday pay so I am not complaining.

 

Digital I do not know where you are at but they are still legal in South Carolina

 

Oh, the irony...

The fireworks show didn't pan out because we got rained out. I ended up getting soaking wet because I didn't have an umbrella as I walked back to the car. I spent the next 3 hours in a cold movie theater watching the new Transformers movie instead (it wasn't
bad by the way).

In addition to that, my friend's cookout for tomorrow was also canceled because they have no running water and are going to use the holiday to fix it.

So, one day I get too much water, and the next there's not enough... Jeez....

Please, please, please don't let my trip to the springs on the 5th fall through! :|

 

@FullHornet - Australia mate, I think they are still legal in one state, but that state just happens to not have one of the capital cities and is a desert, hahaha.
