Inconsistent NAT Status (Back and forth between Open and Moderate)

    Hello.

I am slowly becoming very frustrated with networking on the Xbox One. I am having problems with my NAT status jumping between moderate and open with no clear pattern or reason why. Before I explain further, my information:

What Country/State/Province do you live in?: USA/NJ

    Modem brand & model number:

Router brand & model number: Netgear WPN842N

How many 360 and One consoles are connected to this router?: Currently one.

Wired or wireless (for each console): Wireless

Things you have tried: See BELOW

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown: Yes

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?: Moderate/Open

Any Error Codes you encounter: None. Slow matchmaking is my problem.

Who is your ISP?(Internet Service Provider): Comcast XFinity

    Things I have tried:

    Disabling and re-enabling uPnP. FAILED

Opening up all required ports. (I manually assigned my Xbox One an IP address through network settings to do this).
    INCONSISTENT

Opening up all required ports (Alternate method of using my xbox's wireless MAC address to assign it the same IP every time). FAILED (It refused to be assigned the designated IP so I just did it manually).

    Using powersave mode INCONSISTENT

    DMZ Process FAILED

What is basically happening is that my console with bounce between moderate and open between power cycles. The only way I can figure out to get it to be open is switching between power settings and clearing the alternate mac address which restarts the
console(I don't know if the alternate mac address has anything to do with it, or if its just the fact that the console is being reset that switches the NAT type). The NAT type only seems to switch between moderate and open during power cycles and not from
just simply disconnecting and reconnecting to the router.

I payed a lot of money for this console and I have stayed loyal to Xbox throughout the years, but this is ridiculous. With my 360 it took barely an hour to open up ports and for me to be on my way. I understand the Xbox One is new, but it came out
over a YEAR ago... and there's still so many problems like this one among other things such as the console not letting my talk in party chat about half the time until I reset my console.

Any help would be appreciated. An explanation of why a process will help would also be appreciated. Maybe if you explain why something will help or what could be wrong, it could help me help myself or my friends and better understand why this is
    so difficult to deal with.

    :)

Usually not being able to play with certain people is a NAT type error. I have had issues with the xbox one staying on and open NAT. It goes back and forth from open to moderate. Have no idea why. My 360 always stayed on open.

Upon further research of my modem, I discovered that my parents had recently changed to a gateway. Long story short I enabled bridging mode and my NAT is now showing open after I reset my console and router.

I am NOT positive this fixed my problem so further advice is welcome or an explanation of why disabling the WiFi on my gateway fixed my problem (if my router is what I use for WiFi on my devices then why does it matter that my gateway has its Wifi on or
off. Or does bridging my gateway do more than just disable its Wifi). I am just curious.

If you know for certain that gateways can cause the problem of inconsistent NAT type, they please let me know so I can rest easy knowing that my networking is finally fixed.

  6. I'm having the same problem except mine goes from Open to Strict when I turn the console off. It's very frustrating and I don't know how to keep it open.I went through all the steps on the NAT error support page and it is still strict when I turn the console
    back on.

Thanks for the help. I have a feeling the router is taking a crash. NAT is switching back and forth from open to moderate with no changes to the router/modem.
