    Hello Everyone.

    Before i get into this issue, here are my specs.

    AMD 3800XT

    Gigabyte Eagle 3080Ti

    MSI B-550 A-Pro

    4x16 G.Skill Trident Z 3600Mhz

    Crucial P1 1TB

    Corsair Rm750x

    Cooler Master RBG 212 Black Edition

    i have been having this issue lately, since i installed the latest nvidia driver (472.12). the issue is very inconsistent gpu usage, varying from 90% down to around 10/20% then back to normal. during this time my frames will either freeze or drop down around 10/20 fps then go back to normal.

    in terms of testing for this issue, i do not have a different system to test for either the gpu or psu as i think the problem lies within these two parts. i have tried reseating gpu, no change. the psu could be the problem as originally i was meant to get a less powerful gpu but ended up going with a 3080ti for 'futureproofing' it.

    also, the cpu usage stays steady and only sometimes spikes when this occurs. i doubt it could be a bottleneck.

    my mobo also only has an 8 pin cpu connector instead of an 8 + 2 pin.

    i am waiting for the next available gpu driver (should be sometime this month) in hope of this fixing the issue, but i dont know.

    Update:

    Downloaded new nvidia driver this morning, updated windows 10 to the latest version, went into the bios to make sure something didn’t happen with my ram in terms of slow speeds. All good there, was running at 3600Mhz. This only means it could be the psu not having enough power to provide for my system

    Yeah with fh4 on ultra I’ll normally get 165 ish with anywhere between 80/100% utilisation however I’m still getting those dips. After booting up again last night I had also noticed sometimes the cpu usage would drop down to about 20/30ish which means it is potentially psu related. Am working on getting a HX 1000 platinum to see if it’ll make a difference.

    Will 3D mark next time I turn pc on.

    Yeah I have 2 dedicated cables from psu to gpu.
    If the CPU usage is higher than 20/30, then you have an issue somewhere as FH4 shouldn't be utilising even that much....my 3600 CPU from memory never went higher than 25 and your 3800XT has a higher clock speed so should utilise less.

    As to the PSU, 750w should be fine (Gigabyte recommends 750w for that particular GPU) for a 3080Ti and 3800XT...admittedly, it is on the lower end but it still shouldn't be causing issues with those games....although it might be pushed if trying to run something like The Medium which pushes the GPU and CPU hard. My suspicion is that your issue is either some hardware being flaky or a driver fault. Running 3DMark or similar should highlight anything as it will push your system

    Might be worth rolling back the NVIDIA driver to the previous version and seeing if it resolves it

    It also seems there is a new NVIDIA driver out today...least there is for me so might be worth checking

    Not running windows 11. Currently running latest version of windows but I fail to see how this is causing me my troubles since the issue started happening after a driver install.

    Running a 3080Ti with a 1440p monitor shouldn't be utilising 90% of the GPU on FH4, even running at Ultra settings....my 2060 Super on Ultra only used 40-50% GPU on Ultra, albeit on a 1440p 75Hz monitor but still.

    If you have Steam, try downloading 3DMark and running the benchmark program:

    Scroll down the page a bit and you will find a "Download Demo" button on the right. Timespy pushes the system enough to hjighlight any issues.

    How many power cables do you have running from your PSU to your GPU? Is it a single one which then splits to the separate connectors on the GPU or is it 2 distinct cables? A single one isn't enough.

    I will tell you that cooler is probably a little on the low side, check your CPU temps
