When someone pays out their $60 for a new release, they are expecting a complete, polished game. The end consumer should never be given the job of a beta tester.

    Well said Bizarro.

I hear you Blue Illusion, you make a good point regarding a games legacy and its followers. We can all agree that a game never should be released like Battlefield 4.

  3. One question I have regarding EA is have they always been like this? Or is this simply a product of becoming such a massive company with multiple major AAA game releases each year that's caused it (boggled down in bureaucracy as it were)? When you really
think about it, they ARE pushing out a lot of games/franchises each year - Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, all of the EA Sports titles, Battlefield, Mirror's Edge, Titanfall, Plants vs. Zombies, SimCity, Need for Speed, Army of Two, Crysis, Bejeweled, Dead
Space, Star Wars The Old Republic, and on and on and...

Personally I feel that is has become and instance of becoming to big. (using sports games as a reference) When EA had competition back in the late 90's and early 2000's they made great sports games. Once they competition started to thrive, EA bought the
rights so they no longer had to fight and they could release a middling product.

Now they have Published great RPG's as well. Mass Effect was great, made by a small team at first (so the reuse of environments is understandable then, les money to work with) But the later both successors got better and worse at the same time. ME 3 was
a great game, but the ending was awful. And left the user going what the heck kind of closure is that? Now is that due to a deadline issue? Or a product getting so big that they thought they could get away with that? I believe it was EA pushing BioWare
    to get the game out.

Same thing with Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2. I loved Dragon Age 2, but was the game rushed? Or a game getting bigger? I am inclined to believe EA pushing BioWare.

Assassins Creed is UBISOFT by the way.

EA didnt make Crysis, they just published it. I guess you could say they rush games out, however I never had an issue with any of their games outside of server stuff. Besides the sports titles, I dont believe EA makes many games themselves. They just buy
studios and they put their name on it.

  7. Akame, I was referring to them as a publisher. With the exception of Assassin's Creed, which I mistakenly mentioned above, all the games I listed come directly from their official website.

I still remember when they flubbed the release of Spore... Incomplete Games and a Loss of Faith and Trust :(

...and that game was released in 2008. That means EA's been doing this kind of thing for at least the past 7 years! If anything, that's what concerns me the most about EA. They've been doing this for so long with so many different franchises that I fear
it simply won't stop unless an outside force eventually intervenes.

  9. I should start my own company called AE (Artistic Entertainment) and start publishing games properly. Incomplete Games and a Loss of Faith and Trust :p

I believe it was EA pushing BioWare to get the game out.

Actually, it was a leaked ending which caused that whole [enormous] controversy. It's been awhile, so details are fuzzy for me, but the original ending was leaked. The lead writer (Casey Hudson) got so upset that he
grabbed another writer (Mac Walters I believe) and they both sat down in a closed door room and completely re-wrote the ending on their own. No one else from the original team of writers was present and there was no peer review of it (which was status quo
prior to the incident), from the entire writing team, before it was finalized.

Personally, I blame Casey Hudson for most of it. He let his ego get in the way of clear judgment IMO. Then again, EA also deserves the blame for their role in it. I'm sure they could have allowed BW more time to change
the ending and do it properly, if they really felt it necessary, considering the circumstances. Thing is, endings have been leaked before and it was pulled before that many people found out. I really don't think it would have hurt the sales if they'd released
it in original form... but it sure is easy to let your ego grow when you're under the umbrella of a company the size of EA.

  11. And this is why leaks are stupid and potentially damaging/dangerous, IMO...

People are so desperate and impatient, wanting information and satisfaction now that they can ruin it for the rest of us. It's the whole entitlement thing all over again. If only they could learn to have patience... Incomplete Games and a Loss of Faith and Trust :(

  12. It's reasons like incomplete games and content being held back that has made me stop buying games new or not at launch.

...and PH, that is a perfectly reasonable response to what's happening. An unfortunate one, but nonetheless reasonable.

  14. I can tell you right now GG I used to pre-order a lot of games. Mosto f the game I bought were right on the first day.

But too many bridges have been burned and now I just wait. And it sucks because I shouldn't have to worry about crap like this but I'm not going to go"oh well, maybe this time things will be right..."

Even if i avoid "bad" devs/publishers + my own taste in games.I still got plenty of games to play.

Also, now that i buy digital,i spend more time with each game.

I just try to be becareful with my choices and now that "my retailer" is open 24/7 and lives at home,i don't feel the need to pre order or rush to buy a game as soon as possible.

Devs/publishers will do whatever they want to do,for best or worst, just try to be smart consumers/gamers,make your own choice, get informations and don't buy games blindly.
