Inappropriate Gamertag - I am expected to pay for a new one!!!???

My gamertag was 'inappropriate' according to microsoft. The gamertag in question is 'Bran Has Ebola' which I don't see how it can cause offence? Even so, microsoft took it upon themselves to change it to an awful gamertag and expect me to fork out £6.79
for a new one!! I don't think this is a good way to treat someone who has been loyal to xbox since the original xbox console came out.

This email is to notify you that your Xbox Live Gamertag has been determined to be inappropriate. Your Gamertag has been replaced with an automatically generated Gamertag.

No you should not. That was how the old system worked. Now when your gamertag is deemed inappropriate the XBLPET changes it for you and you have to pay for a new one.

 

Force gamertag change

If you create an offensive or inappropriate Gamertag, it will be replaced with a new automatically-generated Gamertag. To get a new gtag you should pay the fee

Your gamertag would've been considered a "Sensitive current or historical event" and that is most likely why it got changed. You could always try posting in the suspension forums because that is the only place that the enforcement team read posts.

I got this same email today, so can you tell me how slimpickings000 is offensive or do I not renew my gamer live account? I can go elsewhere to play games if that is what you are trying to achieve!

 

The 1st post has had the word Ebola in the tag which is a hot sensitive subject. that is why it was changed, as for yours slim, I have NO idea why they would change it there is nothing I see that is offensive about the words slim or pickings, I would post
a thread in the suspension forums at the bottom of the main support page and ask why. I am honestly confused why that tag was given the forced name change good luck slim!
