    Inactive Xbox Gamertag


    Way back when I first got an xbox one on Christmas 2014, during the infamous Lizard Squad Scandal, to get around the issue of me not being able to make an account I went to the Microsoft website itself in order to create one. Since everyone was losing
    their minds over the situation I thought I was being smart by creating an account with a completely new email and password from what I using previously, but being the naive teenager I was at the time I simply told myself ‘I’ll remember’ the details...
    Obviously I Didn’t... So I decided to create a new account. It’s nearly 6 years later and I’d expect the username to be available by now. I’ve checked and it’s not it keeps trying to add numbers to the end of the username which I didn’t want in the first place.
    There is a username that is similar but it’s not exactly the same. The question I’m asking is... Is there anyway I can get help to deactivate my old account so I can claim my original username back?

    How to submit a ticket for requesting an inactive account gamertag to be reset?

    How do you know it's inactive? Gamertags are used on several Microsoft services,not just Xbox live,so there is no way to know if a gamertag is inactive or not.

    Just because a gamertag has low gamerscore of hasn't logged into Xbox live for a certain amount of time does not mean it's inactive.

    Inactive spaced gamertags should be removed and released. They are inactive, 100 percent inactive place holding gamertags.

    The article is admittedly old, but it is from after they released inactive Gamertags the first time.
