    Inactive User with Preferred Gamertag


    Good day, people of the community,

    I have an issue regarding an account that has been inactive since April 8th, 2018, with the gamertag "GrimTheCat". As this is my most common alias online, I would like to find a way to get this inactive account suspended so I can inherit the gamertag. Is
    there any possibility that this can be done for me? It would be greatly appreciated.

    xbox now allows the same gamer tag they just add a # with numbers next to it e.g #6935

    You may be able to swap out a letter, instead of 'i' use l or 1 or put an "x" before or after the gamertag

    Unfortunately, even though they don't log onto Xbox Live for a long time, doesnt mean the account isnt active elsewhere, the person could just be using the account for emails or something.

    Nope. There is no way to request that. However, as of August 30, 2019, if a person does not sign into their Microsoft account within 2 years the account will be closed. So if it truly is inactive it should be freed up next year. But even though the person
    is not using the account on an Xbox, they may be using it on another Microsoft service so it may not be inactive.
