I was sad to see that the name I use for multiple things was in use by someone. I was going to try an negociate a trade or something for the name but the account is inactive.

As long as the gamertag is on the servers, there is nothing you can do. The gamertag system is in use on other Microsoft services as well. So even if they are inactive on an Xbox, they could still be using it elsewhere.

Hey SmG! If the Gamertag is currently taken by another user (inactive on Xbox LIVE or not) then it is not available. There are certain cases where Gamertags are resurfaced, which it sounds like you're inquiring about, but this is determined when an account
has been inactive for many years. If you're still seeing that profile then this wouldn't be the case! You'll have to find another Gamertag that you like.

I always kinda wanted the GT Lord Xenu or Lord Despair but last time I checked they were taken.

Despair was one I wanted but it was taken and inactive.

I honestly think some people make cool names/gt and don't use them. Why? So other people can't have them

The account may not be inactive. It could be a Zune, Messenger Account, or other MS account. Only MS can deactivate accounts as needed or if needed. I hope this helps.
