Inactive Gamertags

I've been looking to change my gamertag recently and I've found several gamertags that I liked but are taken, and haven't been active for up to 5 years on some; is there any way that I could recive one of the names like Blasphemy, Repentance, Ocean,
or Elohim?

Inactive spaced gamertags should be removed and released. They are inactive, 100 percent inactive place holding gamertags.

 

Do you think Microsoft will clear out old unused gamertags?

They actually do this but its not live gamertags as much as Microsoft accounts goes inactive for x period they will purge it

 

Sorry, but until either those people change their tags or Microsoft releases inactive tags again, there is no way to get those tags as long as they're on the system. The gamertag system is in use on other Microsoft services as well. So even if they aren't
being use on the Xbox, they could be in use elsewhere.
