    i been wanting to change my gamer tag to Todos but its taken by an inactive user is there a way i get it some how?

    Original gamertag is inaccessible & GLITCHED due to a inactive spaced version

    Inactive spaced gamertags should be removed and released. They are inactive, 100 percent inactive place holding gamertags.

    Do you think Microsoft will clear out old unused gamertags?

    They actually do this but its not live gamertags as much as Microsoft accounts goes inactive for x period they will purge it

    Hey there, unfortunately gamertags can be used by other Xbox services so it might only be inactive on Xbox Live, also they used to recycle gamertags, but people were reserving the single word ones and selling them on ebay so they stopped doing that.

    Your best bet is to just keep checking as it's unknown whether they still get recycled.

    How do you know it's inactive? Gamertags are used on several Microsoft services,not just Xbox live,so there is no way to know if a gamertag is inactive or not.

    Just because a gamertag has low gamerscore of hasn't logged into Xbox live for a certain amount of time does not mean it's inactive.

    The article is admittedly old, but it is from after they released inactive Gamertags the first time.
