    Hi there! I’ve asked a similar question before, but I was wondering if I could make a call or something similar to have a possibly inactive account have its gamertag changed. I’ve been looking at the gamertag “Zuki” for a while now, and I’ve noticed that the last achievement they’ve unlocked was in 2017. I believe that the owner of this account has not used the account for a couple of years now, and I was wondering if something could be done. Thanks!

    Adding to this, just because it is inactive on Xbox, does not mean that the Microsoft account is inactive. As long as they keep using the account, then the gamertag will stay attached.

    An account has to be inactive for two years now, before the account is closed.

    When does Microsoft deem an account inactive long enough to warrant that "purge" of inactive gamer tags?

    If the tag belongs to an inactive account would it not be available for lookup? Could that be why I'm having this issue? Also, if the account is inactive is there anyway for me to get the tag? Also, is there a way to search for inactive gamertags like
    mine possibly is?

    When will Xbox release inactive account gamertags out again?

    in 2016 they announced that inactive accounts will be removed if they didn't been active for 5 years. So that means inactive accounts will be deleted in 2021

    The basic answer is no.

    The next roll off of inactive accounts will be in 2021 I believe, and the account will have to have been inactive 5 years.
