In the Market.

For a used X1.

I couldn't help but notice a person trying to sell their current gen console, 2 controllers and a few games at a PS. So I decided to draw closer in order to catch the conversation.

The Manager asked. 'How much you want?' The guy said $150.00 - 'No, I can't give that.' and directed the sellers attention to the stack of 10 or more X1 consoles on the floor behind the counter. Long story short... The person sold his X1, after the manager
confirmed it was in working order for $75.00 (Console, games and 2 controllers)

So after the person left and some time had expired. I asked, hey how much for one of those consoles and do they work? $230.00 or $275.00 for one with Kinect with 30 day warranty.

Naturally I didn't buy, but this got me thinking about running an ad on CL. I mean if people are going to go into PS to sell their X1 consoles so cheap, then why not sell directly to me or any other member of the general public at those prices?

It's easier. I'd rather just go and sell it for less money than to post it on CL or some other site and then have to wait for some freak or weirdo to call me and ask questions about it. That's just me though.

Not saying everyone that uses those sites is a freak, but I did use one of those sites (advert.ie) and the guy that came to my house looked like he was scoping it out to rob at a later date. Luckily he didn't turn out to be a bandit lol, but selling like
that is not for me.

Once I sold my Rock Band accessories, a fight-stick, and a steering wheel that I used for racing games on Craigs List. I was so paranoid, I had the buyer meet me in a very public place (a restaurant), and I made sure that I wasn't alone (I had my brother
with me - he was armed with pepper spray just in case anything went sideways). Thankfully, everything went relatively smoothly in the end, but the trouble of having to go through all of that is not something that I look forward to doing again - ever.

 

If it was me I would have cut in and said I will give you £100 right now......

 

Thankfully, (Oh, happy Thanksgiving America.) paranoia has NEVER found a place to hide out within my mentality.

 

Can't do that Genchy.. For there is an unwritten rule that says. Wait until the current deal is refused before making a counter offer outside the establishment.

 

Sod the unwritten rule matey...I would have countered inside. Its a commercial outlet not a mate.

 

Genchy has the right idea. I would have jumped in.

 

Morality and respect for the rule of the establishment, wheter known or unknown. Prevents me from simply. 'Jumping in' before the current deal is refused.

In this particular case it wasn't, so another day perhaps!

 

They don't have much "morality" giving $75 for a console and then punting it out at $230 to $275 so every man for himself I say!!

 

Don't forget, the extra controllers and games are'sold seperate.' so the markup. Even with 10% off BF sales, is still over 100%

Man am I ever on the wrong side of this industry.

 

if it was Gamestop I would have no trouble jumping in. They will rob you blind without a second thought.

 

Well here in the U.K. there's nothing wrong with butting in and offering more to the seller.

In fact,in my experience in GAME the people who work there encourage it as even the staff know their trade in prices are so bad.
