In game unlocks and pre orders ruining gaming?

I miss those old games when you buyed a game you got EVERYTHING in this game,no dlc,pre order bonuses, insanely time consuming in game unlocks. And now this generation and the previous oneIn game unlocks and pre orders ruining gaming? :pre order here,Pre order there to get exclusive in game bonus, buy this
drink, buy this product to get exclusive in game bonus, play 1000 matches to unlock this item,do 1000 kills with these weapon to unlock this item...At least make pre order exclusives available on marketplace its not that i wont buy the game if i dont pre order. And
make those requirements for in game unlocks if they have to exist a lot lower. What do you guys think?

    :)

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided... Pre-Order Program Canceled.

Not really sure why that's an issue. At the end of the day, you still got some incentive for pre-ordering. If you know you want the game and know you want some sort of bonus for pre-ordering, then what does it matter? If you didn't feel like pre-ordering was worth it until a certain tier was unlocked, then you could just wait until all the tiers are unlocked to pre-order. Or get your pre-order some place where you can cancel in case it didn't work out.

That really wouldn't have been an issue though, because all the tiers would have been unlocked at some point.

Missing 15,000 credit and 5 MyVIP

Hi abdula karkuki. We looked into your issue and it looks like your last pre-order was not calculated into the Games on Demand Pre-Order punchcard. We're making this adjustment and you will see your Credits pending by the end of the week. Pre-orders do not
qualify for MyVIP. Once you unlock a Star rank, you'll earn payback on qualifying purchases.

    " Bought "

I like in game unlocks, it gives me something to strive for in the game. I agree on the DLC crap though, just make a nice big, complete game. Don't just give us half a game then charge us for the rest. Also if they're in game unlocks don't make them available
fo purchase on the store, you gotta earn that stuff dudes.

I think overall DLC is a very good thing, as it adds longevity to a game, giving extra levels and content etc. This would not have been possible on previous generations based on the premise of you buy a game that includes everything in one go.

What I do completely disagree with and I'm sure you all know what I mean is when you buy a game with additional content that you have to pay to unlock, but that content is already on the disk. As far as I'm concerned if it's already on the disk you should
not have to pay for it, ever.

  6. I don't mind pre-order bonuses as a general rule. What does irritate me is when there are retailer exclusive pre-order bonuses.

Just look at how Watchdogs handled things. Absolute madness.

No. Nothing is killing gaming, as it makes WAY more money now than it ever has. If anything is negatively affecting gaming it is the absolute trash and lack of originality in the video game world. There is nothing wrong (in my opinion) with disc-locked
DLC. Publishers/Developers rely on sales, so they are obviously trying to entice people to buy their games first-hand. If you don't agree with said practice, then it is best to not support these Pubs/Devs.

I don't like to pre-order games anyway because I just don't trust Amazon etc or the postal service to deliver on the actual release date. The fact I can get an extra skin for a pre-order does not interest me in the slightest. If I want a game on release
day I will just pop into the supermarket on my way home from work or after the kids are in bed.

I do not like pre-order bonuses. I do not like pre-ordering my games though. I like to know what I'm buying first and see how it is before I pay. Imagine pre-ordering games like The Order 1886 for €60.00. You take it home and it lasts you 5 hours. It would
have been better to have waited and possibly rented it in my opinion.

I understand that publishers/developers are here to make money, and I'm more than happy to support sales with buying games new and paid DLC etc. Disk-locked DLC just seems to me that you're paying extra for something they've already made and therefore budgeted
into their development costs. The best analogy I can think of is I buy a new car and it gets shipped to me without wheels 'sorry sir if you want wheels that going to cost you extra'. I'm sure there's an equal analogy which will work against my logic lol!

Agree that games need some originality, I'm bursting for some JRPG's like I played on 360 (Blue Dragon, Enchanted Arm, Eternal Sonata etc), but this comes back to the point of sales again - if they aren't going to make enough money on producing these games
then publishers/developers will just stick to the tried and tested formula (FPS, sports etc) that they know will sell. Catch 22!

What's "ruining gaming", in my opinion, is the constant demands being made by the Self-Entitled Whiners (I know, perhaps an overused Coin-phrase but it's still the best description). Whenever the "Inmates run the Asylum" it's almost always never a good
thing, the Developers need to secure both of the reins instead of disgruntled gamers (many who've simply just had a rough night on 'Call of Duty') tugging at both sides while dictating what direction they're going in. A good example is the Emotional Overreaction
to the ONE implementing DRM after its initial reveal, DRM solves a lot of problems and you need not look any farther than Steam for Concrete Evidence that it's a Sound Successful Business Model. Instead, gamers ran to the rescue of the Middle Man Retailers
who've skimmed from the top for years and were more worried about selling their own used copies after they were done with them while crying about "greedy" publishers in the same breath.

Making games Digital Only trims MILLIONS off of a AAA Project's Budget, a game like 'Arkham City' shipped about 4.5 Million Hard Copies Worldwide in its first week after launch, the manufacturing/shipping costs are more than just a little significant. People
ask on here regularly "why are PC games so cheap?" Answer: D R M Yes, it's a "Billion Dollar Industry" that also requires "Billions" to sustain. Perhaps Publishers do need to meet the gamers part way here, but until the Gamers who constantly demand better
games for less (some even expect them for free because they chose a platform with Membership Dues!) start looking at the Bigger Picture, expect more DLC, Season Passes and Higher Priced Games...In game unlocks and pre orders ruining gaming? :)

Strangely enough I actually quite enjoyed the unlocks (skins etc) in Gears of War, gave me a sub-objective to work towards whilst working towards kill medals etc.

  14. Hello "N1K Leonhart" In game unlocks and pre orders ruining gaming? :)

In my opinion, the only thing that is ruining gaming for the Xbox One generation is the absolute garbage practice where the core game that you paid $60 (full price) for barely has any content on it and then the developers have the audacity to charge for
a $40 season pass for content that basically doesn't add anything to the game (I'm talking about Destiny).

Bungie / Activsion suckered me in and the sad part is that Destiny is a really good game, but it is severely lacking in content.

I love Destiny, but I will never ever buy a game again that practices the same song and dance as Destiny did.

Have a nice day or afternoon or night "N1K Leonheart" In game unlocks and pre orders ruining gaming? :)

In game unlocks are fine. Pre-Orders are fine.

The only thing hurting games is gamers themselves.

Gamers claim they want innovation. Gamers claim they want something fresh and new. And claim to want new IP's.

When in reality they want only slight changes, and a number behind the title and yearly releases.
