In-game chat question

In some other games that I've played on xbox one, the kinect sensor has been used for chatting, so I can hear other players through the TV and speak without the headset. This doesn't appear to be used in Titanfall, so I tried plugging in the headset. I don't
hear anything through it, but I also don't see the little animated mic change when I talk. Have I changed a setting somewhere which has caused the headset mic to stop working, or is it the game, or is the mic probably just faulty?

I know the question is about party chat, but doesn't it record voices if you are in game chat?

 

Should 'No Chat' in Destiny be against the law?

Chat is on for your fireteam...invite them to yours or join theirs...facepalm. Better yet, start a party chat with them.

Against the law though?? Dumbest question I have ever seen in this lobby.

 

Well, I tested my mic in party chat, to see if the green circle lit up, and it does, so it's probably just that nobody is chatting.

 

I think their in game chat needs a tweek personally. I have been playing around with it as well and can hear other players fine but you cant tell who is talking.

 

NeilsBUK: Not very many people chat in this game for whatever reason. My guess is that it's so fast paced that it's kind of hard to concentrate on the game and talking. I say this because I've noticed that I don't talk much even when I'm in party-mode with
friends and playing this game. I will usually only talk if trying to strategize, especially in hardpoint and CTF. But even then it's difficult because of the pace.

Kinect isn't used for in-game communication in Titanfall. If you're in match and someone is speaking, I believe their gamertag should popup on the right side of the screen.

I think you should still see the sound wave animation coming out of the megaphone next to your name when you're speaking. Can anyone else confirm this?

 

Yea that's where the issue is they have already patched the in game chat but this is still buggy and sometimes isn't working right imo.

 

I don't chat much anyway. I don't see the point really. The only time I really want to talk is when I have a pilot rodeoing my Titan and getting out will cause me to die, and even then nobody would respond to my cries for help.

Also, I swear too much, so I leave my mic on mute so I can't be heard cursing whenever I get killed 'unfairly'.

 

^LOL yeah I have to be careful not to accidentally leave my mic on after I exit a party or something. The other day I accidentally left it on while playing and was talking to my dog for like five minutes before I realized the mic was on. I'm sure people
on my team were like

Anyway, xchemistx: I noticed this happening the other night when I was in a game. I could hear someone talking but when I went to go see who it was on the scoreboard no sound waves appeared by anyone.

Make sure you're not in a party still by accident too, because it will show you as having a headset (with the megaphone) but you'll only be heard by people in your party.

Otherwise I would suggest waiting until you're on a team where someone has the megaphone icon and trying to get them to confirm they can hear you.

It could be a bug I guess but that would be odd for a new bug to appear this long after the last update. I did however notice last night when I was playing that my friends who were playing with me did not appear as green on the radar like they normally
do. So who knows...

 

It happened to me as well NeilSBUK, If you want to use your mic to chat in titanfall you have to go to your Kinect settings and turn off the option to use the Kinect Mic for chat, That's the only way to chat in TF. Sucks to because I hate having a wired
Mic connected to my controller, it hinders me

 

@DazedHigh: I didn't realise that option mattered, but I think I changed it to switch it off, and I heard someone chatting today through my headset, so I think it's working. Not that it matters, because normally there's only me or one other player with a
mic in each game.

 

This wasn't always the case. Chat via a headset in TitanFall should work, regardless of Kinect settings, and would work intermittently. But even now with the patches, I still have problems communicating with both my Bluetooth (modified) and wired TurtleBeaches.
Ill finish a game being able to talk but unable to in the next. Sometimes a player who I was talking to, mic notification will stay on the screen, but in actuality he isn't talking, or at least I cant hear him regardless of if the adapter for chat is in or
out. Atleast with it out, chat should be coming out of the TV
