Impossible to recover lost password

Hi

I created a new microsoft account for my son via my xbox profile -> add family.

Safari created a new password but failed to save it.

I was not prompted for an alternative email or phone number, so it seems the only way to recover the account is the account recovery form.

But it is impossible to fill out enough information on this form for it to be accepted. It asks for details of recent emails that have been sent from the account - but there are none, the account has just been created.

Also impossible to get through support to talk to someone. the virtual assistant gets stuck in a loop and just keeps telling me about the account recovery form.

So in this situation, how do I recover the account? I have now created a new one, so would just like this one to be deleted. But in order to do that I need to sign in.

Thanks for your reply. I have created another account But how do I request deletion of an account which I cannot login to? Waiting 60 days is fine, I just want it gone.

I don't believe you can delete accounts even if you could sign in. I tried deleting a spare microsoft account once. It wouldn't let me because there is an xbox account attached to it.

The best thing you can do is forget the account exists.

And make sure you have at least two bits of recovery info on your new account.

Unfortunately you will not be able to delete it as you cannot access it.

Thanks for your reply, but this cannot be correct. From a GDPR standpoint at least account deletion must be possible.
