I'm sorry to see any issues connecting to Xbox Live! Sometimes, on Xbox 360, if you run the

Xbox Live Connection test after getting Gold, this will trigger a refresh of your account and you will be able to connect up to the service. However, if that doesn't work, be sure to

remove and re-add your profile to the console.
